hahaha, basically there is nothing to update and you guys are saying "Rock on" and "sweet!".....I can't imagine how badly you'll mess up your underwear when I post videos and dyno's.

Have you tuned the HalTech for N/A yet? If you have, how were the gains from just changing the fuel maps? I'm interested to know if it's worth installing pre-SC to get some nice gains out of the motor. Hoping to run low 15's at the track N/A by the end of the season. (upstate season ends when it snows). Also interested in whether it's worth the extra $500 for the AEM ECU so that the ignition timing can be messed around with as well as the VICS. If it's only going to give like another 2-3hp, I'll just go with the haltech.

I have been following your supercharger project for some time now (we spoke a while back regarding some Eaton M62 superchargers that I had) and have just finished this thread. I have got to say, excellent work on the supercharger development. You have covered all the bases. Eliminating the AC torsional vibration, particularly during throttle on/off transitions, and achieving additional pulley wrap for the SC is the way to go for driveability and longevity. Losing the AC here in Canada is not really a problem. I am definitely going to start saving my coin.

Hey John (it is john right?) how's it going? I hadn't spoken with you since we last talked on the phone. I'm very excited about this project. It seems more and more people are realizing that you can build a solid reliable and powerful kit and it doesn't have to cost a fortune.

Latest update from DaveB:

Dave has had a HUGE project for the railroad company that has occupied every machine in his shop 7 days a week 22hrs a day. He has to give the mills and lathes a 2hr cool off period before running them again. He has a staff that runs all day every day and once this project for the railroad is finished I'm next in line. He already has the code written and the material trimmed to appx. size. All that he has to do is find time to work it in. He told me he'd have everything in my hands ready to be installed no later than 2 weeks. It shouldn't take more than a few hours to mill the two brackets and lathe out the 4 pulleys I'll be testing. The pieces I'll be getting will not look like final production pieces. Final production pieces will be anodized, hard coated and engraved. I'm just putting these in to test fitment and durability.

Don't fret over the pictures not looking great. I don't put my name on anything unless I know you'd be happy with it.

p.s. Dave has set me up with a company that sells CNC mills. I may be looking to purchase one here this next year. If I'm able to get one from daveB all I'd have to do is take his formula and program it into the mill and it'll make everything here in my shop. I guess I'll need a bigger shop now!!

That's what I love to hear!!

I hope everyone understands the delays and doesn't get too impatient. Good things come to those who wait and the protege community had to wait 4years for a mass market supercharger!

I would love to get hold of a 1.6L and 1.8L protege for testing but I do not have them here. I will not say that they will work without testing it myself first.

If you are serious about buying one to test you could purchase one during the GB period...try it out and if it doesn't work out for you sell it to a 2.0L guy for what you paid...it'll be less than what he'd have to pay for it new out of the GB. You break even and he gets a deal on a kit never boosted.

Hey Rodd, just a thought. If you do look into mills Okumas kick ***, twin turret hummpen maniacs. Fadals are good also I worked for an Orthopidic company and thats what they used. I wished I could come run it for you. Ive machined for 9yrs on both laths, and mills. But I can't leave my mom.
To get back to your thread do you have a close figur on how much it will cost?
I CANT WAIT!!!!!

Dave told me about the Okuna's but sent me to HAAS first. I checked out their VMC (i think) and it looked nice. A 3-axis machine is only about $25K according to Dave. I'd love to get one and I can afford it but the problem is I've never used one. I would need some class work or maybe some hands on time with Dave or yourself.

As for Kit pricing the GB price will be right around $2500+shipping. I'm hoping to retail the kits for $2700-2800 but it may be right at $3K. I'll make sure not to go over $3K though as that gets dangerously close to turbo kit pricing and you know how those turbo guys feels about competition!! j/k. I'm all for FI no matter who's making money off it as long as it comes with decent ems. I can't stress how badly poor ems will make you feel when you boost!

If I do end up purchasing a new mill/lathe and make my own stuff I will probably have to bump the price to the $3500 range in order to pay off all of the purchases I've made to produce these kits. I still dont think $3500 is a bad price at all for a blower with a warranty and haltech fuel management.... that's an awesome price...especially when you look at what other supercharger kits come with and how much power they make. I just wish I had a forged motor so I could show you guys it's real potential!!

hahaha, oh yeah, I'll have to use some revenue from the supercharger sales to buy it so thats a given!!

I just think it would be nicer to include a 1-piece pipe instead of some welded bends. Always thinking about quality!
