No problem. I'm always interested in getting feedback from everyone. I like hearing what people want and hopefully I address all of those concerns.

*DEADHORSE ALERT*

Matty, do you have any idea how the Jackson Racing S/C kit managed to keep the A/C system on their Miata kits? That picture of Natey's new toy reminded me of that fact.

Any plans on a kit for the 3?

yeah, eaton blows run directly and solely off the crank shaft. When this is done there isn't the same belt-snapping problem that you get with centrifugal blowers.

Eaton blowers are very reliable but horribly inefficient, noisy, cumbersome and a little more expensive.

Natey's blower looks awesome...not designed 100% as I would've done it but the miata has a majorly cramped engine bay and that blower absolutely swallos the engine. Anyone seen what kind of numbers he puts down? I bet I match or beat what his miata makes. I'd also love to see what he did for ems...but we'll save that for another thread.

So it would be possible to maintain the A/C, as long as we were careful not to turn it on while boosting. So, you'd only turn on A/C or defrost when you let off the gas? That doesn't seem like a huge problem, especially since both hands will be busy either steering or shifting when there is a lot of boost.

you sure can maintain the ac.....buy a turbo.

I've beaten this topic to death. If you want a supercharger for your protege you will lose your AC end of story. I've gone over this numerous times. Make sure to read all the details so you know why.

i've got other plans for the 2.3L once I'm done with measurements on it.

lets just say it involves an old shift kart body and a fresh pair of underwear.

I leave tomorrow night to drive 11.5 hours to Ohio so DaveB and I can get the last of the critical measurements and finish the machining of the last bracket. Dave will/should have the pulleys finished by the time I get there and the ps bracket is really just an adapter plate..nothing complex there.

I'm hoping to drive home with the blower hanging in the bay and barring any real problems I'll be able to post pics and hopefully video of the blower spinning in the engine bay. Give you guys an idea of what it'll look and sound like.

Keep an eye on the thread and you'll see some new pics very shortly.

The 2.3L is from the Mazda3 (Axela in Japan). Also used in the Mazda Tribute, Ford Focus, and Mazda6

Actually, my wife drives a Tribute 5spd with the 2.3L duratech...if you do ever get a kit up for it, I might be interested in seeing if it'll work in a Tribute as well. Do you have any idea where I can get performance parts for the tribute? Looking for mostly exteriro parts, but a few engine mods would make the wife happy

hmm...I would think that some simple mods like an intake may be universal but Icouldn't tell you...well, yes I could.. My wife has a 3S and my sister in law has a 2.3L tribute. If I were to buy an intake I could try it on both to see if it fits.

p.s. Im looking for a V6 tribute WITHOUT awd here near me so I can look into making a neat dual exhaust system for it. My mother has one but is not the kind to mod anything.

I would have thought that all the "Duratech" engines will be ford based and not Mazda.. well they are here anyway..

While I am thinking about all this platform sharing stuff.. are you interested to see what we use for a Cold Air Intake ?

EDIT:
I posted it here anyway.. feel free to look:
