Chris, I think you will be VERY impressed with the Stage 2 NA cams. I rode in 2K2silvermp5's car with just the cams (un-shimmed) and an Injen CAI and that thing pulled hard! Much harder than mine. Another thing to point out is that his cams were un-shimmed at the time so the lift and duration were WAY off and it still showed a noticeable pull. I think with a good header/exhaust/intake you will see whp numbers that rival that of the stock MSP.

phantom, yeah I know....I'm bummed also. It'll all get worked out though. Andy is a stand-=up guy.

FC3S, no new valves, springs or retainers needed for any of the stage 2 stuff....however there will be RACE NA cams available later on and they will come in a bundle with new titanium vlaves and springs. These are only recommended for cars with upped compression though. Hope that helps.

^^ thanks maybe you should let some of the higher mileage protege's know they might want to have the valve springs tested to make sure they are with in specs, can't wait to see some #'s thanks chris

hats a good idea....I hadn't thought of that. Once I get some actual cams in my hands I'll start looking for local guys to test on.

Roddimus,
Any idea on how long the delay will be? I thought a 3rd party (Crower?) was building these, so the work Andy would have to do would be minimal. Either way, I'm still interested .

Also, what are the specs on the cams? Hard to know how to plan/tune an NA engine without the cam specs.

Chris

Cam specs are kept as confidential as possible. Once the specs are released people will just go out and make their own cams and negate all of the work and testing Andy has done on these.

I would say the delay will eb about another 3-5 weeks or so. Andy had to order the billit's from Mazdaspeed of Japan since they are the only ones making these. He ordered 20 sets and once they come in he's having to send them off to be made. I do not believe Crower is making the cams. From our last talk it appears that crower tested, flow-benched, and approved the design and specs Andy came up with. I know Andy shipped them a complete head and intake manifold, they used the R&D cams and gave him some pre-liminary numbers on flow rates and expected gains.

I will have the first set of retail NA cams. My cams however are going to be a little more radical than the standard Stage 2 cams. I want a lopey idle that will work well with the EH P&P and possibly my supercharger. The retail versions of the Stage 2 NA cams will still be more aggressive than the MS cams. I would say 15-20whp on a stock car would be a safe bet. Header and good intake should bump it up even higher.

Yeah, Last I spoke to Andy he had the new billits in hand from MS of Japan. He was waiting to finish with all previous orders before focusing on these. He's going to have a local shop grind them and ship me a set for dyno testing here. Once they arrive I'm going to baseline dyno my P5 and then swap the cams over and get a few more pulls to show the difference. I'm hoping to have the cams here within 3 weeks or so. It's just really out of my hands though.

I'll keep you posted!

yup no CC's just yet. If I get approved for my business license this may change.

Also, THIS THREAD IS NOW CLOSED. IT WILL RE-OPEN ONCE I FIGURE WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH WAGNER AND THE CAMS IN GENERAL.

People interested in performance cams can still get a set made by me but there is a minimum of 3 week turn around and the price will be about $550+shipping. I'll get some more solid details in the coming weeks and create a new thread.
