Your thoughts on Audiobahn.

I have been browsing different website in attemps to choose equipment to build a competition car for SQ to run in next years slap competition. Audiobahn has really cought my eye, One problem. No one around here has a good audiobahn system to demo, thus I really on you guys.

Their AEX500Q deffentily has my interest. Also looking at their amps, speakers and subs I like what I see. For my Personal taste I love clean and clear sound but I listen fairly heavy stuff. Slipknot Disturbed and I can't stand system that sound clear at low volumes but blow apart when pushed.

I've got a set of AB 5.25 seperates in my front doors... Overall, I've been beyond satisfied, especially given the $50 price tag. Only problem is that I'm severly undercutting them with the stock deck... an amp is next on the list.

the hardest thing to balance is midrange (altho i love it!), and if it were me competing i dunno if i would go with audiobahn. they do make good stuff, and i think they sound pretty good, but i'd shoot for perfection and drop in some awesome mids.

back on topic tho, audiobahn is pretty good. the dealer here pushes them and ample along with some sh!tty stuff that i don't care to mention. i guess it would depend on your budget and basically what you want to accomplish with your sq car.

do you want to stay with one brand?

After attending the NE finals SLAP show I am considering Image dynamics also for speakers . 2 cars sounded great with just simple setups. the biggest draw to audiobahn was their stereo 1/3 octive eq with crossover.

SO far I have ruled out Focal and Quart becuse they just don't seem to hold up under abuse. Diamonds sound lifeless to me.

My next considerations are Alpines new 3 ways, JLs XR 3 ways, Dynaudios and Image dynamics. Also kicker caught my eye with their dedicated 8" midbass driver since it will be a hell of alot easier to put in compared to the dual 6 1/2s in each door.
