I'm going to guess that he does in fact have a decent jack, but he just didn't take it with him to CT.

However, I'm puzzled as to why one would carry an extra set of wheels anywhere other than a racing event. But Kansei does what Kansei does.

Replaced the burnt out silverstar on my drivers side during my lunch break. Noticed last night that it was out.....that is rougly a year on a set, replaced the passenger side sometime back in March, I think.

And two weekends ago I gave her a 'warmer' place to park. Will post up pics when I get home.

werd josh has it right. I have a jack I paid 200 bucks for that makes changing tires almost pleasurable. but with the extra set of wheels and tires in the car plus two weeks worth of game consoles, laptops, clothing, etc I didn't have room for ze jack. I live in a city, that pic I posted is way rural (1500ft elevation yo)

My new blizzaks still have only 20 miles or so on them. The drive back home is 360 miles, and it was dry so I figured I'd save the wear on the blizzaks until I need them.

My mom's car was awful in the snow but we made it there safely, and the roads were plowed when we had to drive back.

+1 more reason why CVTs suck.. one less indication that you are spinning tires in the snow. revs can jump all over whenever the hell they choose to, no matter what the wheel speed.

Also the "manual mode" where it "steps" through 6 "gears" is silly.. it lets you put it in "6th gear" at like 5mph but then the rpms just stay constant at like 1500rpm until you accelerate to a speed where "6th gear" is sensible, and then it sorta almost locks on to a set gear ratio.

Sounds like the traction control is giving the CVT the silent treatment. I conject the two systems could work well together with a better algorithm.

That manual mode does sound ridicuous. Sounds like the engineers wasted their time writing software to control that useless feature rather than getting everything to work well together. I guess future versions should be better...

No, Nissan --you know, where for the 2007 Model year they made the Maxima CVT only, the only automatic available on the 4th gen Altima , as well as the murano, sentra, and versa.

when they hadn't really used CVTs before that.. ever. It had a transmission replacement before 1k miles, then one at 4700 miles.. now it's at 9k miles and so far, so good. If the transmission breaks again ever the car gets bought back by Nissan per CT lemon law :P

And it has no traction control that I'm aware of. No feel of it, no indicator light for it, nothing during the funky startup sequence. Even for me, the car is sorta tech overload.

the only good thing with that car is that Nissan has the nicest keyless entry/ignition system I have ever experienced.

p.s. nissan is foreground in the pic I posted

Took the car to the shop to check out a squeel when I start it in the mornings(I dont hear it when its already warm), although since its 30miles to the dealer it was nice and warmed up, and I cant leave it over night for them to try and see if it happens for them, they couldnt find anything wrong. I figure its something to do with the accesory belt that I had put on in march when the old one broke, but until it gets more constant they wont know they atleast said the belt isnt showing any damage. I didnt want it to break again when I drive 300 miles out and back this weekend, and then 1000 each way when I leave for christmas break.

I wanted to jump down the carhops throat though when he started it up to take it back and first thing he did was rev the engine up(still in park), but I did have a bit of satisfaction hearing the exhaust as he passed me...but then when they were in the shop I started hearing them rev it up again( Im gonna assume for their sake it was to diagnose the problem). Atleast I didnt hear them blaring my stereo this time.

Did they test the belt tension? They should have the right tool for that, it's damn easy and requires no disassembly at all.

One of the two accessory belts would be very easy for you to tighten on your own (especially if your car has never been to the north), while the other one does require crawling around underneath the car.

I never have compared new BKR vs new ZFR to see if there's any noticeable difference. Plus that would require going to the dyno and I just can't have that happening :P
I'm gonna finally change my spark plugs tonight (if i can find my stupid 10mm socket to get the engine cover off) ZFR6F-11's

dunno how they checked the belts...theirs a second accessory belt? the one that broke in march was on the side of the motor like at the bottom, I know it runs the radiator fan.
the ones I have had changed was that one and the timing belt.
