If you ever sell it, sell it in Canada. Not only do Proteges net around 10k here, but since yours looks like a Canadian cluster, one would assume the ODO is in KMs as well.

100000km = 60000 miles, so your car will seem alot newer if sold here.

the cluster I bought had 40k kilometers on it :P ..but yeah so that I don't have to go through hell selling the car I've kept my stock instrument cluster board (odometer reading) throughout all of the changes.

plus I have the ultra rare USDM roof rack

does anyone at all know what realm of price this taillight is?:

http://corksport.com/store/image/hu6...e_P5_Wagon.jpg

I know it's like ~75 for a new USDM oem one.. I think that price is with a parts hookup though

and a JDM taillight set is ~200USD.. but I think the rarity of the EDM one might make it a bit more.. :'(

I could just wire it up and simulate the effect myself (assuming the fog indicator lamp wiring does go to the back of the USDM protege5.. ) with a red vinyl overlay, a different bulb, and a little re-wiring

Isn't that just the OEM one that comes with the P5? It doesn't look any different to me, unless I'm missing something.

note the color of the bottom 'circle'.. it's red. it's a fog light indicator lamp.. just requires a different pigtail harness to work on the USDM models.

So, like, does your coolant gauge read in C now? Metric FTW!

Does the EDM taillight have the red rear foglights in both sides or just one? I thought the convention was to have it on the driver's side only.

This is the Protege section, dude! But we're cool with it. You can get the factory spoiler for the 3 sedan at onlinemazdaparts.com for $655--Ouch. But at least it comes painted. You're 3's looking pretty good, btw.

oh yeah, it's totally in C.. metric RPMs too lol

yeah, the red one is just on one side. Problem is, the photo on corksport's site shows the passenger side (right side looking at the rear), but the UK 2003 323F brochure shows.. the british passenger side as having it. .. and I know the photo isn't mirrored because it shows the gas cap on that side too. Earlier in the brochure, there's a rear/side full shot of the car, and it shows it being on the right side.. but again, the gas cap isn't present on our passenger side so it seems correct.. but it must be photoshopped out because the muffler is on the wrong side.

I realize it would be ridiculously expensive to do more 323F conversion stuff. The 323F sportive (2.0 litre, bumper and sideskirts like we have, similar interior.. ) had rear seats that split 50/50 instead of 60/40, but they also split.. into 4 sections, allowing the seatbacks to recline into the trunk.. really far, way past where that flip up part of the cargo cover would allow them to. The rear seats were also adjustable fore and aft! The front passenger seat (our driver's seat, since I'm looking at the UK brochure right now) folds flat and has a hard plastic backing for use as a table (that's a friggin nice feature). Then there's heated seats, traction control, AND dynamic stability control!

plus the available 2.0 turbodiesel.. 100HP (well probably 99.. it's 100PS), 230NM of torque (170 ft lbs) mmmmmmmmm

I would love a turbo diesel Protege... it's too bad those models never make it stateside.

you can blame general motors for that.. making diesel so unreliable it has taken decades for North Americans to begin accepting diesel again.

Not entirely true. Most people in the States didn't like dealing with the noise and extra maintenance of a diesel (fuel moisture filter springs to mind), and gas engines were cheap enough to run and had much better acceleration. Not to mention you couldn't find diesel many places back in the day.

Back to the topic, I expect to see a post from Jackelope any day now (hint, hint).

VW seems to be doing OK with it's diesels, I see them often enough. I think more companies have to make a few good diesels to show people that they can be reliable.
