deadening + amp question + gauges

i managed to blow my old 600W pioneer sub LOL... so i went and got a 1000W JBL sub..

but this thing pumps more than a pornstar with a.. ok lets not go there

with my 99 protege.. the back shelf rattles wayyyy too much for my likeing... so i decided to get some sound deadening and put it there..

my questions are..

1. is doing the back shelf and boot-lid.. enuff?? or do i have to like do the sides and under the spare tyre and all??? (i know more is better but will it make a real noticable difference??>

2. i dont want the sub running all the time... so i thought i will hook up a switch to the remote trigger line from HU to amp.... doing this wont have an negative effects of HU or amp right?? (i know silly question.. i know the answer is no.. but just double checkin to make sho i aint missed something)

3. i bought a GTR style gauge mount for the spare DIN space under HU.. and i decided to chuck in 3 gauges there (2')... what i was wondering was what size wire i should run from battery to power the 3 gauges (A/F ratio, vacumn and oil pressure)... and also where i can find the illumination wire.... (so the lights on gauges come on when i turn lights on)....

sorry if they r majorly stoopid questions.... but i wanna triple check everything b4 i do anything to my car hehe....

thanx
