Anyone done P5 sound deadening?
There are some old threads about this, but no one has reported of success or failure following installation. I'm looking to reduce road noise by use of a dynamat type product.
Thanks,

I've dynamatted a lot of cars in the past (I used to be the manager of a high end car audio installation/retailer). The result is usually very good. You need to remember a few things. Dynamat is first and foremost a sound damping material. It works very well at "damping" metal from ringing. You see the benefits of this when installing loud car stereo components. What I usually did for my customers was on top of just installing the dynamat onto the car, my shop also sprayed undercoating over it. This was what actaully provided sound deadening from road noise.
If you are just looking at cutting out road noise (which our cars seem to have a lot of), I would recommend getting your car undercoated instead. Most detail shops will provide a "Undercoating/Sound Deadening" package. Essentially, they spray the entire under chassis of your car with undercoating. It works quite well as a way to reduce road noise as well as corrosion. I would recommend this over Dynamat simply because it will work better for killing road noise as well as be a lot cheaper. For the amount of Dynamat that you would need to fully cover the entire floor of your car in order for it to work as a road noise killer, it would cost you an arm and a leg.
