stock struts with eibach springs?
I did mine in 3 hrs by myself. Pretty easy and straight forward. Having the proper tools made a huge difference and would have gone faster with another set of hands. I have heard of getting them installed fro $100-$200 depending on where you go.

Performance struts will last longer and are made for performance springs. They are a little stiffer. I'm getting performance struts soon, but I don't think it will make a huge difference. I doubt the handling performance would be a greater change than what it was and is now. Read the first post in this thread. http://www.protegeclub.com/forum/sho...threadid=19644
As for cutting springs, your asking for trouble.
