Corky is a good man, I need to buy his book(s). Is the turbo larger on the BEGI kit than the callaway kit?

I just wanted to make a point you can run low, low times without an LSD.
.....and you could run even lower times with an LSD.

No ****, but that wasn't the debate here. It was about an MSP vs. BEGI P5/MP3. I think linuxninjas MP3 would rip a MSP apart, but then again he's starting with a fs-ze and bored block.

Fine, I can get brash too.

If that's the case (with the P5) then we can go on to say that after you get an MSP you could put a 3" exhaust, no cat, boost controller and fuel support and eat turbo'd P5's all day long.

But that's not the argument is it?! No, the question was would an MSP beat a P5 with a turbo kit, not would it beat "so and so's P5" or a P5 that has a turbo kit and been modified to all hell and gone.

Im just irritated by the fact that everyone here seems content to write of the LSD as an advantage. I can tell you from driving a 300HP FWD car that an open diff is no friggin joke. My car is apart right now and will be until I can atleast put a fake LSD in it because I am so tired of the one tire fire and smoking the passenger tire through second gear likes its going out of style. I get NO TRACTION. I don't see how you can compare the two cars and a hypothetical race without taking the LSD into consideration.

If you run two cars with relatively equal horsepower to weight ratio, the LSD equipped one is gonna trounce the other one.

I don't know how much HP the base line P5 turbo kit puts out, but if its not a good 20-30 more than the MSP, its not gonna win on an open diff, sorry.

I never said fast times were impossible on open diffs, but any time you run on an open diff, would be faster with an LSD.

You guys have your opinions and I have mine. Im done.

The FM Protege 5 is running 6...I am at 5~5.5 psi. It was set for six, but for some reason it is only doing 5...

Dat's ok wit me...Until timing and fuel is sorted for the better, I'm happy at 5. It pulls all mean and stuff now, I'm almost scared to take it up to eight.

Yes, you're right on all counts. If you've read through the whole thread it's broken down like this (advantages are based purely on straight line performance):

MSP:
Advantages - LSD

Turbo P5:
Advantages - Sleight weight advantage, 20ft/lbs more torque (with similar HP numbers)

If we were talking about 300hp cars yes I would definately go with the LSD car, but we're talking about HALF that power (we were comparing 'stock for stock'). I'd say with the sleight weight advantage (even the P5 is lighter than the MSP) and the large torque advantage the race would be about dead even in a 1/4 with similar drivers.

Sorry if I seemed pissy, but I swear I've typed the same thing about 5 times in this thread, hahaha... But until someone takes their turbo pro to the track, we'll never know how it stacks up to the MSP which runs low 15s.

Haha...that's exactly how I felt. LOL. Yeah, that's it, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I'm not sure who we can bug to go to the track, I think linuxninja's car is too far from 'stock' to be comparable to a MSP But that's a good thing!!!!
