I would say the MP3 BEGI turbo over the MSP.

BTW, this is easy to get the answer for. Just PM Linuxnija. He has this turbo in his MP3 and I think he's driven the Mazdaspeed already. He could definitely tell us.

I have the BEGI/FM Turbo in my MP3 also...Just have to go drive an MSP to know the difference. I can already tell you though, I make ~163 hp to wheels...

And the MSP makes around 157hp to the wheel. So I would say the MSP loses both times. Don't get me wrong though. I do like the MSP, but seriously I would take a MP3 over a MSP any day.

this could be wrong.... but my friends and i were talking about the mazdaspeed pro. and is the mazdaspeed pro. just an MP3 with a bolt on turbo..... we dont think they redesigned the whole motor or anthing like that....

The motor is the stock FS-DE with larger injectors and turbo. There are some extra goodies in the tranny.

The suspension is revised a little from the MP3 as well.

Nope stock pistons and stock comparison. There was no need to make any major changes to the internals since the boost level is relatively low and the stock internals itself are strong enough for light turbo applications.

Okay, from what I have read and seen so far, disregarding any major differences in HP estimates (which could be different for any number of reasons) the MSP and turbo P5 are only about 7-10 hp apart, in favor of the P5.

Also, I think its worth noting that the main question was not the MSP versus a specific product show car for a company, but a car with that particular companies turbo kit on it. So for the sake of the question we aren't talking about a P5 with thousands of dollars of suspension mods, and othe crap.

Now with that in mind, most of you must not be very familiar with driving an open diff FWD car. Especially one with any decent HP. You guys can just write off that LSD like its no big deal, but I am telling you, it makes a BIG difference. I speak from experience, in my eclipse, a buddy of mine with the exact same set up, was consistently running 2-3 tenths faster, all from the hole shot. Now I am no car expert by any means, but I don't think that 7-10 hp is gonna make that big of a save. Given a hypothetical equal driver, equal circumstances race, I am placing my money on the LSD enable MSP every time.

Not that anyone may care, but the new Neon SRT 4 doesn't even have an LSD and pulls off very quickly at 5.8 secs 0-60.

Yes, LSD will make a big difference in lauches, but your friend had both done to the same car. Now given your friend is comparing the before vs. after of a LSD (or at least cars set up exactly the same), makes a difference. The only REAL advantage the MSP had over the pro5 or mp3 turbo'd would be the LSD (speaking in terms of straight-line performance). The BEGI kit has a large torque advantage, plus the mp3 or p5 would have a slight weight advantage too. This would easily make up at least half (if not more) of the .2-.3 sec disadvantage. I'm not sure about how much the MP3 weighs compared to a P5, but even with the turbo kit I'm sure they're still a bit ligther than the MSP. Plus the torque advantage.

Any way you look at it, it's a very close matchup.
