Turbo P5 Vs. Mazdaspeed
Who do you think would win?
Pro 5 with FM Protege Turbo Charger 6 PSI Boost Or Mazdaspeed Protege with the 6 PSI Boost http://autos.yahoo.com/compare/compa...2protege5sport |

The MSP may have a slight advanatge in terms of traction due to its grippier tires and LSD. For me, I would also prefer a BEGI turbo P5, since I like the color better, looks more restrained, and has better weight distribution.

(167.5whp/191.5tq) http://www.flyinmiata.com/protege/te...FM_P5_6psi.pdf ^^^ With stock exhaust (149whp/173.1tq) The MSP dynos right around 150whp +/-... AcoupDetat didn't mention the larger exhaust, so: http://www.cr.nps.gov/seac/chpi/spoon%20.jpg Here's a spoon so you can eat my ass. |
p.s. The jerkstore called, they're out of YOU! :D

I seriously doubt that 20ft/lbs of torque is gonna save the turbo P5 from the limited slip on the MSP. For anyone who has ever driven a FWD car with a decent amount of HP and an open diff, you know what I am talking about. Given, its close enough that a little driver error could throw it off, but I'd put my money on the MSP and its LSD.

Would definitely bet money on a P5 turbo over the MSP.

Too close to call. If the MSP really has 150WHP and a good sum of torque it would probably take the turbo P5 in the drag, but it would be very dependent on the driver. But if the P5 has a stock, or close to stock, suspension it will get its ass handed to it in the twisties. I would rather have the MSP and get the whole warranty package, an LSD, and not have to spend money above and beyond the 3k or so required to purchase the FM turbo to make it decent.

Thanks a lot guys... not your making me think about trading my P5 in for the mazdaspeed.......

The FM Protege 5 will win a drag. It makes more torque and horsepower than the MSP...
And the FM Protege 5 now has Ground Control coil-overs and adjustable camber plates. So, it'll give the MSP a run for it's money in the corners now too. Not to mention, it still all cost less than the MSP. |
Originally posted by TheMAN seems to me nobody ever talked about the weight.... According to Mazda USA, Protege 5 M/T weighs in at 2716 lbs., A/T at 2749 lbs. ... The Mazdaspeed Protege weighs in at a hefty 2843 lbs (damn stereo). |
