Hahaha, no, not you... *Some* people in this thread are posting worthless crap without researching first... I shall call it..... payback, for everyone else this person has made feel like an ***

Back on topic...

Like I said, with the weight advantage slightly going to the P5 (even with turbo kit) and torque advantage, it would be purely a driver's race. The MSP would pull better off the line, but I think the turbo P5 would be able to make up that distance in the 1/4. It would be very close, but I'm putting my money on the P5

P5, and I agree it would be a driver's race.

The MSP dynos right around 150whp +/-...
FWIW the MSP has the same exhaust system as the MP3 (i.e. too small by turbo standards). You can probably expect similar gains if you slap the Thermal exhaust on an MSP, although the difference may not be as great in comparison with a stock ES/P5 system.

A P5 turbo all the way. Look at the hp numbers for both and the weight ratio.

Turbo kits aren't exactly featherweights, so you have to consider that in your weight ratios, plus that LSD will help with the launch a lot.

So 0-60 I would say goes to the MSP.
And 1/4 mile probably the Turbo P5.

And the FM Protege 5 now has Ground Control coil-overs and
adjustable camber plates. So, it'll give the MSP a run for it's
money in the corners now too. Not to mention, it still all cost
less than the MSP.
Ok MR..lets do the math...Mazdaspeed final cost MSRP $19,900....Turbo P5 with Coilovers and Camber Plates(which btw doesnt come close to the Mazdaspeed's suspension)...MSRP $16,700 + $3500 on BEGI Turbo Kit + $400 Ground Control Coilovers +$250 Camber Plates(guesstimate) = $20,850(assuming you install it all yourself!!)...also take into consideration when you are considering weight the extra weight of the turbo kit on the P5,and the coilovers and add a conservative 100 lbs and you have a HUGE weight diff of 37 lbs!!! also there is a big advantage of having an LSD over an open diff!!! I'm not saying you cant get fast times without it but any racer will tell you it WILL make a BIG difference in a FWD car...it would still be a drivers race as on paper there is no clear advantage...but as far as bang for your buck, the MSP kicks the Turbo P5's *** all day!!!

well considering the MSP gets better suspension, bigger rims, stickier tires,LSD,thicker axles,EBD system,450 Watt Kenwood Audio System(MP3 Player)btw with the stiffer struts and springs it would get less squat(loss of torque) off the line...all for $350 less...wow!!! I'll take it all day...matter of fact I'd take it right now if I wasnt buried so deep in my loan!!!

Nah, not me. I'd prefer the P5 with the JIC supspension and BEGI turbo kit. I like the looks of the P5 better than the MSP. Something about a hot hatch does it for me

The Protege 5 still makes more torque. Torque is more fun, and pulls the car off the line.

Don't get me wrong, the MSP has a lot going for it, I'm happy Mazda made it, but the turbo kit BEGI/FM Protege have simply puts the MSP's to shame. I am dissappointed in Calloway.
