Fiddle with it. My Porsche 914 used to do that same thing. I found that if I put it in 2nd gear and then back to reverse before letting out the clutch, it would go right in. I don't know why it worked, but it did. Maybe because reverse and 2nd gear are the same size?
Also, the trick where you let the clutch pedal out about 1/4 of the way while trying the shifter...that worked for me also.

same thing here on my 99....

it won't go into reverse... i just pump the clutch a couple of times and it goes in.
and yes at high rpms its a little hard to get into second.... maybe i should try rev matching between first and second (hehe i've been trying it alot for the past couple of weeks)

been doing some techniques like downshifting from 5th to 4th while maintianing a steady speed, and not jerking the car... and then 5th to third same thing... hehe
i'm preety good at it

but back on topic, ye i just pump the clutch a couple of times and it works... and the days i ain't too lazy i put it into second then reverse, and that works fine too

440 HP? What have you got done? Also, if you really are pushing 440HP, you should know better than to use the stock transmission...

You're lucky I can't find that flag or it'd be up so fast... Anyone else found it yet?

I was told that it is the lock up gear syncho. Just put it in 1st or 2nd roll forward a lil. then it will go right into reverse.

I agree with everyone else. I'd like to see this 440 hp Pro you've got.

There's no way two 36#/hour injectors will support an additional 330bhp. Maybe you switched the 4's for 2's?

Your dealer told you that the problem may be the shortshifter?

Gimme a break.

Shortshifters do not affect how transmission engages. Long throw, short throw, your transmission is still the same. The only thing that gets affected by the shortshifter is the effort required by the driver to engage desired gear.

All manual tranny cars do not engage smoothly in reverse because synchros do not work in reverse. The only time it goes in smoothly is if by chance the dogteeth line up with the gear.

If you wanna know how a manual tranny works, go to http://www.howstuffworks.com.

If you wanna skip the geeky stuff...
Put the gear in neutral, depress clutch and put into reverse. If it doesn't go in, put it back in neutral release clutch and depress clutch again and put it into reverse. Repeat until it goes in.

first off slicks no need to be hostile

you obviously dont understand the theory behind fuel pressure and fuel delivery
#2 quaiffe lsd is what the name says it is LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIL only
the rest of the transmission internals are stock
#3 you also need to brush up on your skills for recognizing the difference between TORQUE and HORSEPOWER

listen if any one has any questions or need some guidance on theory ill be happy to teach
but untill then come out to jersey and see for yourself
as a matter of fact if you let me know where your from maybe i can make some arangements

and also eagle b20's are the rods but they will be upgraded soon
stock head CAN support about450 we almost have it maxxed out
try it and youll see on your own

later
FROM MONSTER PRO % WITH 4 4 0 HP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
