Two questions

First one: I went to adjust the timing and I noticed I can't see the timing mark with all the accessories on. Do I have to check through the fenderwell or something? Also, I was looking at the damper and I noticed there is no marks for timing on it. How am I supposed to know where to line it up?

Second: I broke my dipstick while replacing the water pump. Is it a press in or screw in? Can I replace it with the engine in the car or am I looking at having to pull half of it apart? Thank you for your time.

Bob

for ignition timing....there should be a yellow mark on the crank pulley; the timing marks are on the lower half of the timing belt cover.

as for the dipstick, all i can say is that the 'sleeve' is part of the oil pump assembly... how its attached.

What's the easiest way to see the timing mark? From the top or the side? I guess I'll have to live with the broken dipstick tube for now.

Without the PS/AC belt in place.

You did ask what was the easiest way to see it.

haha...actually that's the way the manual shows it...the only belt *on* in the drawing is the alt belt.
bty, my timing marks were CAKED in grease/oil - very hard to see. As for the mark on my dusty/rusty crank; i haven't seen it yet...but haven't really been looking for it, either
