Two questions
First one: I went to adjust the timing and I noticed I can't see the timing mark with all the accessories on. Do I have to check through the fenderwell or something? Also, I was looking at the damper and I noticed there is no marks for timing on it. How am I supposed to know where to line it up?
Second: I broke my dipstick while replacing the water pump. Is it a press in or screw in? Can I replace it with the engine in the car or am I looking at having to pull half of it apart? Thank you for your time. Bob |
for ignition timing....there should be a yellow mark on the crank pulley; the timing marks are on the lower half of the timing belt cover.
as for the dipstick, all i can say is that the 'sleeve' is part of the oil pump assembly...:dunno: how its attached. |
What's the easiest way to see the timing mark? From the top or the side? I guess I'll have to live with the broken dipstick tube for now.

haha...actually that's the way the manual shows it...the only belt *on* in the drawing is the alt belt.
bty, my timing marks were CAKED in grease/oil - very hard to see. As for the mark on my dusty/rusty crank; i haven't seen it yet...but haven't really been looking for it, either ;) |
When you advance the timing do u just move the pulley over 5 spots??/
CAn someone post a pic of what it should look like when your done??? |
