oh ok....I have a buddy who races rangers here in Alabama. He is most-fast! He had a 3.0L on the bottle and a supercharged 4.0L 4WD that just killed all! Right now he's got a new stroker 4.0L (not sure what it is now) and they are going to run all bottle (2 stage 100hp-175hp shots). Stock 4wd ride height and generic flowmaster exhaust but this truck will HAUL!!

Who's your buddy? I've been on Rangerpowersports.com for quite some time now, and I know several people are from the Birmingham area (I was actually born in B'ham, but only lived there until I was about 1). Doug Studdard has probably the fastest 4.0 on RPS (the Paxton I had once belonged to him), and Brian McKelvey has done a lot of work with custom S/C setups.

DOUGY!!! Yeah, he and Chris Sanderson are who I'm refering to. Doug and Chris are putting the new stroker block into Chris' ranger....I think right now. I called them to see if we were racing last saturday and they were getting ready to drop it in. Haven't heard back from him since that saturday. I'll call him tomorrow and see how it's coming. Want me to get some pics for you?

I'd say yeah to the pics, but I'm currently on a 56K connection , so I'll pass. That's funny though how circles of people work! Ask Doug's opinion about the gear ratio thing if you talk to him, I think he'd be able to give a qualified answer!

03ProES.....Chris was out at the track Saturday night with his stock block 3.0L ranger and *fresh* autozone clutch!! it was funny!! He ran an 11.2s 1/8th mile! Now he's got his new intake, 75 NX shot and a stiffer clutch...should be interesteding to see!

Racing Beat--sounds good, i'm looking for stuff that I could potentially fabricate and spoilers and brakes aren't do-able for me, but that's not to say I can't get something done. What size rotors would you want for the 4-lugs?? and would this be a front disk ONLY kit or rear disc conversion...abs or no-abs??

Yeah, the older stock 3.0's weren't much to write home about. The new ones are decent, and have LOTS of potential with the WhippleCharger out now.

he said he was thinking about doing the whiple charger....he's taken the Kenne Bell of his wife's car and might swap it for a whipple for his Ranger.....his 11.2 1/8th against my 10.53s....it was close though...it looked like he had a fender on me the whole time.

Hey, I'm not blowing smoke here or anything......that cat can drive man. I've riden with him and he puts me to shame. I thought I was awesome. He knows so much it's scary. Just looking at him you wouldn't think so, but that dude is a genious.

Good to hear we can keep up with a V6! (who cares that its a truck ) Do you know what Chris's username is on RPS? I follow the 4.0 stuff, and don't know many of the 3.0 guys.

I was currently looking to use a ford 65mm TB since I had several readily available...unfortunatly it wasn't as easy a swap as I had anticipated. I'm going to search around for a suitable TB swap for us who want to try it. I'm trying to make this new TB for $150 with no core. I think thats a great price when compared to other aftermarket TB's.

I figure with my race cams, 3" intake and ported MAF the TB should be upgraded also.

Big brake kit is a little tricky for an independent guy like me....first off you have to narrow down your customer....is it 5-lug customers like the mp3/msp/p5 people...or is it the 4-luggers.... Does the kit work with ABS or no...is it big brake front only or all four?? What if the car isn't 4 wheel disk??

Lot of questions to answer.
