Protege 5 vs. 1st gen RX7

Well this morning on my way to work "I4" I was just driving along chillin at 6:30 am when I see this dude looking over at me in his RX7. At first Im thinking you better stop looking at me but then I realized what he wanted. We started to accelerate and I was sure he would take me but I over estimated his power. Rolling at 55 I dropped it into 3rd and my tach came alive we were neck and neck but surprisingly I started to pull on him. then upshift and yet again started to pull. Not like a WRX or something more like the way you pull on a lancer. Then to 5th and I had him at a cars length @ 123mph. There wasnt very much traffic "oddly enough if you know I4" so it was mostly open road. I thought those 1st gens were pretty fast but I guess the P5's have the advantage.

Just some specs I found

Year Model per bhp lb-ft Cb Wt lb/bhp Trans 0-60
------- ------- ------ --- ------- ------- ------ ------- ------- --------
1979 - R&T 100 105 2420 23.05 5-sp 9.2
1984 GSL-SE C&D 135 133 2590 19.47 5-sp 7.8
1984 GSL-SE R&T 135 133 5-sp 8.5
1985 GSL- R&T 101 107 2500 23.36 5-sp 9.9

I have never heard of anyone getting a p5 up to 130mph. I know the mp3 will go higher due to the extra hp and dynamics but I was under the impression that the p5 was restricted to about 120 because of the wind resistance.

I have gotten to 126 once but my P5 will do 120 quite easily. Takes a while to get there but it gets there.
