There is an existing harness built into the 2002 and up Protege/Protege 5s. The unit and it's accompanying shock sensor are mounted under the dash on the passenger side. As far as I know and from what my installer told me, it's a plug and play device.

The best thing to do would be to check with your dealer, as this is generally a dealer mounted option on new Proteges.

- Even though it's an OEM item, installed by Mazda, it is actually a Code Alarm system. I've even been told that this is as good as, or even better than the Clifford system I replaced it with.... Oh well.....
