3G Protege5, Protege MP3, Mazdaspeed Protege: Fog Light Bulb Change

Can anyone post a step by step tutorial on how to properly remove/install the fog's on a P5. I have only found bits and pieces of info posted.

Thanks in advance

Cool

1. Prepare a piece of cloth, to avoid scratching the bumper.

2. Climb under the car, and find one brass nut that holds the fogs in place. Basically the threaded pin on the lights is parallel to the longtitudinal axis of the car. I don't remember the wrench size ( 12, 14 or 16 ), but it was metric.

3. Once you unscrew the nut, watch for falling bits. The sequence is as follows: nut, spring washer, car body, washer, fog light.

4. After you pull the light out on its pin, it will basically hang on two wires, which you can disconnect. This is when you put the cloth between the body of the light and the bumper cavity. The stock bulb is H3, 55W, which you replace like any other H3, having undone the retainer clip. If you want to see how the clip looks, check your manual for replacement of low-beam bulbs - same type of clip.

5. Re-installation is same, but reversed. Hope this helps!

Lightbulb

Wanted to say thanks for AlexB2 for starting this post! I wanted to add a few things to help out the less "auto educated" folks out there.

*DEFINATELY bring a cloth to protect the bumper, it is vital!
*The wrench i used was a 9/16 open ended for the bolt. Also bring a sml flathead screwdriver and also med sized phillips screwdriver.

Too add to AlexB2's instructions, i have compiled more to add to his steps:

1.5. Once under the car, undo the two phillips screws holding the plastic splashgaurd up underneath the fogs. This will loosen it to help getting to the bolt MUCH easier.

4.5 Once you got the bolt loose the Fog Housing won't completely come out of the cavity. Look behind the Housing and you will see a BLUE clip, this holds the wires to the bumper. Take the screwdriver and push down on the top and bottom of that clip to loosen it and fall inwards.

4.6 Now that its loose look behind the Housing to find two small screws. These actually give access to the bulb itself.

5.5 Put the BLUE retaining clip in after you screwed back the housing to the body.

And thats it!! Hope this helps!!
