Lancer Vs. Protege

My friend got hit by a drunk driver and it totaled his Mustang. He is now driving a Lancer as the loaner car. One of the other guys at work was telling me the Lancer would smoke my Protege so I said lets line up the beater and just see.

From a stop on a 3 count. I get a better launch (brake torqued). Got about a 1/3 of a car on him. Then it was even till 65 where we let off. Rolled up to the light and ran again from the light. I again got the launch and got a half a car then it was even till about 45 when I ever so slightly started to inch on him some more.

All in all I was happy with the outcome, but I would have thought the Protege would pull more on the Lancer

Lancer - 120HP 130 TQ Auto 2725lbs
Protege - 130hp 135TQ Auto 2835lbs

The only thing that was not even was I had 3/4 a tank of gas and I weigh 285. His was on empty and he weights only 160, so he did have a little bit more of an advantege.

I raced him the week before in a retal Malibu and smoke him by 4 cars to 70. I love racing the rentals.

I've been wondering about those water-downed Americanized Lancers and how much power they had. I figured they would be slow. Good race though.

I had an opportunity to test drive one pretty hard last week. Pulls pretty good for a 120hp car. Especially in 5spd. I felt it drove better than the p5

lancer

I had the chance to drive the lancer it was an automatic and to be honest it was pretty quick. you mean to tell me that was the watered down version. I wonder how much they watered down the 350z before they bought over to america then.

I am 6'4" and 285. When I graduated HS I was 305 and was only 5'11".

Late growth spurts run in the family.

I dropped my bady fat % in half too.

Just got my bench to over 400 in the last 6months. Its been a long hard road.
