'92 DX BARLEY beat an O.Z. edition Lancer

First of all, im fully aware that an O.Z. Lancer has got like 30 more hp and lb/ft of torque on me, but before anyone goes raising a B.S. flag, let me just say, this guy couldn't drive for ****.

Now all that ive done to my engine is a K&N filter and a muffler (with silencer), but the lancer had a fartpipe for some reason. Anyways, waiting at a light I see him all driving fast behind me and when he pulls up next to me I see this little high school punk behind the wheel. When the light goes green I take off normally but he launches hard and takes off with his fartpipe rasping away. Well the next light is red and Ive been wondering how quick the lancers are compared to my pro, so at the light I give him a rev, which pratically makes him go giddy revving his own engine. The light turns green and this is where 2 years of delivery driving and 3 seasons of drag racing kick in. I damn near pull an entire car length on him in just the launch. When the rookie finally gets his clutch engaged he's barley off my rear bumper, but with his higher redline and more power at the top end hes coming back with each shift. By third hes pretty much next to me again but we were in a 45, and even though the road was clear, traffic or no traffic I never go past 15 over the limit, so I cut it off just under 60mph, and he goes on rasping away into the night. Well aparently that evening was my lucky night because there he was waiting for me at the next stoplight revvin away. Well the second run is pretty much a repeat of the first, except that there was traffic ahead so I cut if off just over 50mph. But of course the idiot probably was still accelerating as he goes off dodging his way through traffic. Ahhh, stupidity should be painful...

Not sure if the OZ and the stock Lancer have the same 2.0 engine or not. At the NOPI Nationals this year there was a stock Lancer of non OZ decent running a whopping 17.9 - 18.1 repetedly.......Duncan

The Lancer ES, LS, and OZ Rally all use the same 2.0 liter 4cyl which is rated at 120hp and 130 lb-ft of torque. Mitsubishi has a 04 Lancer Ralliart with a tuned 2.4l from the Eclipse RS/GS with 160hp to compete with the Mazdaspeed, Sentra SE-R/SpecV, Civic SI, Neon SRT-4, CooperS, and SVT Focus. The Ralliart is coming in the fall of 03.

Mazda needs to sell a Mazdaspeed Protege5.

They can keep that rally art. I am sure the performance is pretty good for the cost, but the looks... . Well a little boring to say the least. If a mazdaspeed protege5 came about it would be hard to resist. I really do not want to continue making payments, but that would be pretty cool.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the next couple of years with the introduction of the Mazda3. If a Mazdaspeed version of that car is released it will be sick.

I like the Mirage coupe. But I think the Mirage looks like a knockoff Civic.

Which EVO kit? Is his a 2 or 4 dr? HOw dumb of me its a Lancer! MY friend has a 02 Oz with the Sharkracing Bodykit. I wouldn't buy from Sharkracing because Trevor has had a lot of headaches with them. But his car is really cool. Here's pics of his kit.

i beat some dumb *** punk who was trying to show off to his girlfriend in his oz crappy edition. i donno if he didnt hear my intake. but he most likely didnt know i had performance cams put in but he was tellin his girlfriend that it was all over for me. till i burned him 3 times in a row. even stock i'm pretty sure the mp5 would have taken him. i had a passenger aswell so its not like i was racing someone with 5 people in there car when i'm all alone. but we laughed at the kid for a good half hour before we got board and left down some other street.

Yea the Lancer makes a good small family car but I see just as many Lancers as I do Civics. Thats why I bought the SE-R and Protege5 you just don't see many around.
