1.5L vs riced-out Neon

technicalities
EDIT : CORRECTION!!
I was thinking of the 95's then, why i thought there was a 94, not too sure, but the cam configurations is the difference in the horsepower. didn't do my research well enough
(ignore my spelling and grammer in this post, i'm too ignorant and tired to care)
ok, lets say we were dealing with a 95 neon.. a 95 dodge neon highline coupe... you're dealing with a 2.0 litre engine, not to sure about the cam availability on the 95's, but i know the 94's had an sohc and dohc model. the 95 had two separate engines, both 2.0 litres... and i think the degree of separation isn't the size of the engine obviously, or the fuel management, but the cam configurations. not only is a neon's engine slightly bigger (i'm just saying, of that year), but the lower version of the engine is 131hp with 128 foot pounds of torque going to the wheels... and the other engine is rated at 150hp with 135 foot pounds of torque going to the wheels. take into consideration. only thing i could think of is that if he's running an auto, he's only got three gears, then you could probably take him out... with a 5 speed manual, i don't think you'd stand a chance, no offense. what do you have... bout 105 hp? **** buddy, **** would own me. although, the wing... no, thats gotta go, a little spoiler is 'sporty' on imports, but wings make no aerodynamic sense, it's just cosmetic and counterproductive in some circumstances. hey, actually, come to think of it, do you think i could boost any horsepower if i put a wing on my pro? huh?
oh yeah, and as mentioned, driver skill is the most important factor in racing. i've seen 16 year olds that drive like the wind, but can't shift for **** (ie grinding out gears and acting like they drive a formula car)
EDIT: a 95 sohc /w 131 hp was to be my first car, but dealer couldn't clear up an oil leak, so i got my pro

Neons came out in 95, they've always had a 2litre DOHC. The only difference was that one had 132hp the other 150.
I read an article in Motor Trend or Car and Driver or one of those and apparently they had Identical performance numbers.

they've always had the dohc, but sohc was also a standard option... information on this can be found at http://www.neons.org/faq/FAQ_M.html you can see lists and packages, they did offer the sohc and the dohc models since the inception... thus i would believe is the power difference
check out this neon... sohc by the way

1st Gen Neons with the DOHC MTX combo usually run 15.7 in the 1/4 stock. A CAI can drop that to the 15.3 - 15.4 range. The SOHCs run low 16s. I'd say the guy in the neon was a just a bad driver. Good kill anyways.

wing on front wheel drive
actually FWD can benefit from a wing, only at high speeds though. wing adds stability to the back of the car, keeps it from fishtailing at high speeds, the front end almost never needs a wing, as the front of the car makes plenty of downforce. but the rear sometimes (only, ONLY at high speeds) would benefit from a wing, as it will loose stability in the rear of the car due to not enough air blowing on the trunk lid.
