1.5L vs riced-out Neon

So I got this little **** that lives down my street right. He's got an older Neon, lowered w. exhaust and a big 'ol wing on the back. I don't like the kid 'cause he's always hauling *** up and down the street, there's kids around too. Anyways, me and 3 of my friends are on our way to the bar in my car, 1 girl and 2 guys. I go past this kid's house and he backs out right behind me, and we get to a stoplight waiting to turn left onto a 4-lane st. Of course he's on my *** and I'm like whatever.
Light turns green and I pull out real slow, he's right on my *** of course. I see him shift over to the right to pass and that's when I floored it in 2nd. He floors it as well and he's right on my back right fender. I rev high and shift to 3rd, now he's on my back bumper. I take 3rd to about 60mph before I shift to 4th and proceeded to dust him. Mind you I have a 1.5L with NO mods and 3 other people in the car. Him by himself in his riced out p.o.s. Neon. Kids!

sorry but even if he has an auto he should win. If he did lose then he has a stick and he missed a shift.

Maybe he "shoulda" won, but he didn't. Maybe he "should've" not mis-shifted, but he might have. Maybe I "shouldn't" have won, but I did. Give a 1.5L a little credit.

don't uderestimate the 1.5L from a rolling start the car can run with the best of them ..... especially when you are above 3 grand ... and I do believe him

it all depends on the driver. Cause i can technically say i beat my buddy's Si. but he was on the phone at the light and went into 1st really slow and it was only like 80ft. to the next light. But then at that light i kept up with him in 1st. till his v-tec kicked in, then he was gone

neons

A neon can be pretty quick remember they have a stock dohc cam engine. As a matter of fact a buddy of mine told me that the eclispe and the neon have the same engine. My sister had a neon I drove it a couple of times and raced her in my duster If I had down shifted she would have beeten me ( believe it or not). So don't sleep on the neons, with the right driver they can run with the best of them.

I'm almost positive that the Neon and Eclipse DON'T share the same engine.

So technically you had a cars length start on him! Yeah...about that...

Peace

Unfortunatley what people don't understand is that stickers and wings do not make you car faster. Either way you it is still a Dodge P.O.S. and nothing more. There is a guy in my neighborhood with a neon sporting the stupidist freggin' stickers like "FRAM" and "Champion Plugs". Little does he know parts like this can be bought at Wal-Mart and I don't think that it is anything to be bragging about. As for the wing on a front wheel drive car shouldn't the wing be in front therefore pushing the front end down (the end that needs the traction) wouldn't a wing in the back just lift the front end, and can a neon even go fast enough to make a wing do it's job. Either way Dodge SUX and way to kick some ***.

Neons

Hey good job on leaving that Neon. You can not sleep on the little Neon's 1.9l engine. It has a surprising bit of punch if you have a talented driver. My mom used to have one and trust me 120mph came quick!! I still like my protege better personally! But if read my Quote it all becomes perfectly clear. If you decide to race and you can't keep up....oh well!!
