Damn Hyundai!!!
Grrr, I got my FHM magazine today, and on the back cover was a ad for the new Hyundai Tiburon.
The model they had, was the GT V6.
Thats right 6spd, 2.7 L, DOHC 24-Valve, V6, 181hp.
Looks like a lot more trouble for us Pros, let alone the Civic SIs.

yeah, the new Tiburon's been getting some pretty good reviews from the press, some even suggested the car has a far resemblance to (gasp!) a Ferarri (M550 I think).
I don't think the Tib is targeted to the Pro/P5 market, more aimed at the Celica/Eclipse/Civic Si sporty coupe segments....
But I'm not sure if I'm willing to dive into a Hyundai yet...

By the way, the Tiburon will be in the Celica GT-S price range I think, so yeah, that's a bit high for Protege owners. Doesn't have the convenience of four doors neither, if that's what you're looking for
Engine sounds nice though, 2.7L hey? What's the torque on it?

I really love the dual exhaust, BIG fan of that...
Yeah its more geared towards the 2 door coupes, but I was saying in regards to preformance, etc etc, its gonna be hard to race one of those... hehe.. I could just barely beat the old ones!
But yeah, it all comes down to being a "Hyundai".

Test drove it last week
Nice enough, but all they had on the lot was the damn tiptronics (sp), it was nice, but it needed the extra "oomph" from the 6 speed.. I know we'd love to be able to test drive it with that option, my husband is seriously considering this car, and I really love the looks of it!

It weighs about 3050 lbs and has shitty weight distribution (64/36) and understeers like a ****. They said if hyundai really wanted it to compete, they'd have put really thick sway bars in it and stiffer springs.
They also mentioned that the redesign, they actually shrunk the diameter of the front swaybar, who knows why...sound pretty retarded to me.
It does look hot tho. If I were to pick a car on looks alone, i'd probably choose the tiburon over the SVT, Si, eclipse, SER and MP3. SOrry but i like the way the GTI looks more (old school, german styling... )

Nice car...if only they'd bring an AWD Accent over, as per the WRC teams.
At the very least, they need to fix the _inside_ of the Accent so it doesn't look so cheap, and put the Beta motor in it (old Tiburon motor, the one used in WRC comp). You could do a Beta swap yourself though...
Hyundai used to have factory teams in the Canadian Rally Championships but it doesn't seem like they're very involved this year. Did they pull out of it completely to concentrate on the road racing of the new Tib? ah well... there should be Mitsubishi in to replace them by next year if they're smart.
