remove / replace piston or new motor in 2006 Mazda3 2.3?

my wife went through a large puddle last week and hydrolocked the engine. I drained the oil and removed the spark plugs. I sucked the water out of the cylinder (only affected seemed to be #2)
Unfortunately the crank will only rotate 180 degrees, and it stops on either direction. I'm guessing the rod is bent.
The motor has 100k on it but ran just fine

I can get a junkyard motor for about $1200

Thoughts on whether i should try to remove the piston / rod and replace it with a new one or just get a junkyard motor?

thanks!
