not at all Jebus. Nitrous is merely an oxidizer. Think of it as high performance AIR. You run high octane gas right?? why not high octane air?

As long as your fuel system can keep up with the volume of N20 injected you should have NO problems. Another potential risk is a fouled spark plug. I like to overgap my plugs and index them in the head for good measure.

With proper ignition and fuel N20 will be your best (cheap) friend.

Now Matty, you know I'd have to check you on that...running high octane gas is nothing like running N20...It is still safe though...it's much more like running a turbo....and properly managed and maintained turbo cars last just as NA cars....N20 just introduces a higher concentration of oxygen into the airfuel mixture, as N20 has much more oxygen than normal air, Just as a turbo compresses more air into the cylinder. The problem with nitrous is that they are TOO easy to install a bare bones system that can malfunction and blow up your engine, where as a turbo system almost always has to be well thought out. not saying that turbo is safer than N20, just that in most cases the system that is installed is better...think about it...$500 N20 system vs $3500 turbo...which one is probably more well thought out ?

actually most turbo kits nowadays are just built in small shops by anyone with a welder!

I used the octane metaphore as a laymans way of explaining how it worked......thanks for clarifying it for Jebus though!

Yes, thank you for the clarification, after all I am young and the protegé is my first car and Im learning as I go . The label of "newbie" is accurate and well I'm just lucky to have experienced people around me to answer questions I have.

I love this forum

This is a great forum if you're looking for knowledge. If you're looking for **** or meaningless drivel there are many more protege forums I can point out to you.
