electric supercharger

I really hate to post here because of the atitudes of these so called "moderators", but you guys aren't as smart as you think you are. That's all I have for you.

I understand what you are saying completely. But come on, do you think everyone is going to know about cars that much? If they don't know about basic mechanics, how will they even know what to search for if they were to do a search? And if you don't want new people posting their questions over and over again, shut down the site to the public, and you "moderators" can get off on praising eachother to death. Oh, but then you wouldn't have anyone to degrade for asking a for some simple knowledge.
Sorry, from what I've read on this board, I just don't see that. Most of the info here is only from what they have read. Do you guys have any original ideas or knowledge. Or do you all just quote eachother? I don't think we need the answer to that one. It's a given.
most of the mods know WAY more than the average enthusiast

Like Jesse said, you see this thing pop up every month, you're going to be annoyed. You're already annoyed at the mere fact this disccusion has popped up again. No one has satisfied the questioner's curiosity, so, you feel compelled to try and explain. He still doesn't get it. You're no longer annoyed by the disccusion--you're annoyed at both the questioner and the question itself. Tempers flare, etc... Yes, there is something such as self-control, but when it comes to a situation like this, where it's repeated over and over and over and over again, you no longer have patience for the question, and your patience for the person asking the question is limited. You may not have known this question has been asked before, but when someone has told you "time and again people ask/talked about this...", "...it's been proven useless...", and don't believe anything and insist that it's a good product "Oh! It's 300 dollars! It has to work! What are you talking about? It's 300 dollars! It will work!" ...You're asking for trouble.
I believe this needs to be put in the FAQ, with detailed information as to why it does not work.
The first time I saw a similar product I laughed my *** off and hoped that they weren't charging more than $25 for it.
Then again, I have a bit of an electronics background, I've been into mechanics for quite some time now, and I happen to know a bit more about physics than the average person. So, I didn't need to ask anyone about this.
Other people have to be told about this product and similar products. Ever stay up late at night and see all those stupid ads for useless products that you wouldn't use in your daily life, or that when you buy it, it doesn't perform as to how it was advertised? These electric blowers for engines are one of those products. They're useless. It's just a gimmick to try and get your money. People who created these devices should be transported to the middle of the desert and left for dead. :P
Man, I'm going all over the place with this post.
For anyone that still doesn't understand the difference between these blower fans and a turbo...
A turbo sucks air through through the filter and then compresses it. Just like you compress anything else in life, you have a closed area with something (gas, air, etc..) inside, you then move a side inward ( or for lack of a better example, you squeeze a 2-liter bottle that is capped ). You are compressing what is inside the container. The blades of a turbo compressor does this. The housing of the turbo compressor closes this container and allows for the air to be compressed. So don't think that a turbo compressor is similar to this electric fan, just made out of metal and spins faster. It closes the intake system to allow compression.
Take a look at
this. I have yet to find a source that tells exactly, in detail, how it compresses the air. I'll try to explain. At idle, the compressor does not turn, or turns very little (not enough to create pressure), and air flows freely through the turbines. From design, the blades of the compressor is designed to pump air into the system. When the blades are turning at such a high rate of speed, it creates positive pressure. The electrical fans have open blades that move air. If for some reason air became trapped infront of the electrical fan, and pressure were to build up, the pressure would be relieved by air flowing back through the fan blades. I'm sure you'll try to rebut what I'm saying. "Why doesn't air flow back through the compressor blades?" Because of the design of the blades and the high speed of the blades do not allow air to flow in reverse. "Why not just make the electric fan speed faster?" Sure. You could. However, it still won't compress the air. Think of this... Place the electic fan on the table along with a turbo compressor beside it. Try sticking your finger through the blades of the electric fan. You finger passes freely through to the other side. Try sticking your finger through the turbo to the outlet. You can't, can't you? No. You can't. Because of the fan blade design, and due to the fact that the travel of air makes a 90 degree change in direction (it may not be a sharp, right angle, but, nonetheless, it is a sudden 90 degree change). Now, image that the compressor blade is spinning at 100k rpm. Not even air can flow in reverse direction through the small area through the blades and a 90 degree change in direction. Won't happen, no matter how hard you want it to and think it will. Physics is fun.
If you changed the design of the eletrical fan blades and fan housing, sure, it might create 1-2psi of additional pressure over atomspheric pressure. Still, it's only going to run at ~20k rpm. You want it to go faster? Well, guess what. Because it's an electrical fan, once pressure builds up, more energy is needed to sustain rotation of the blades. Small electrical fans, such as the ones in these "electric superchargers," do not have torque needed to sustain rotation at pressure. The more power that is required, the more power drawn from the alternator, and the more power taken from the engine. Pointless. Wouldn't you agree? It's like two Arnold Swartzwatchamacallits playing tug of war. Neither will ever win. Weee
Okay. Class is out. Oh, and for the mods, feel free to put any of the info (edited or not, reworded or not) into the FAQ!
Geeeeeh!%^%!@$^%@#%$#@$ I'm not going to proof read this ****! ****! It's too long!

see...now that is an educated response...thats what i wanted to hear to begin with....dont just say to me it doesnt work, just because...because to me that sounds like you heard it doesnt work and your just parroting what someone else told you...thanx again!!! I would have wasted $300 on this stupid mod...Im beginning to think the results on there website are simply because the setup is similar to CAI,and uses a K&N intake...so spend you money on the CAI and avoid this company all together...now lets close this post since so many people tend to flare their tempers
