First off thanks to 1st MP3 and Sir Nuke (and others)for all the valuable info they've been putting out there in the recent weeks.

I'm embarking down the common path- i have an '03 Pro5. i'm keeping my stock cd changer unit and doing the following
alpine mrp-f320 5 channel- $200
infinity reference 6.5 inch components in front- $110
infinity reference 6.5 inches in rear doors- $60
sub- don't know yet... my dog goes in the hatch, need the room right now. maybe a woox setup?
check out www.ikesound.com for these prices (crazy cheap)

questions-
1)is it possible to hide this amp under the seat WITHOUT cutting the duct work.. in a way like Sir Nuke did (an impressive install)
2)is it worth it to rewire all the speakers with thicker gauge wire from this amp
3)how should i mount the 6.5 inch components in the front. Should i just stick the tweeters over the space where my cheap *** factory tweeters are, or should i try to recess them into that space? i do need adapters for 6.5 inchers up front... right, or not?

Thanks for the help ahead of time.

First, I really should getting alpine to pay me commision at this point. I think 5 other board members are all going for this amp. Heres the best part. I CAN"T GET TWEETER TO CARRY IT!!!!
BASTARDS!

Now for the questions
1) Yes just let the duct sit on the amp. You may have to remove the duct to make the install easier.
2) If you going to bridge the 4 channels to 2 channels then yes. Otherwise the 1 watt your loosing through the factory wires won't be missed. Its an inaudable difference.
3) the tweeter from the Ifinity set may be to large for the stock tweeter location but every componenet set comes with tweeter mount and grills so you can cut out the factory peice and use infinities if you like. The 6 1/2s will need an adapter plate mad to fill the gaps of the 5x7 hole and space the speaker off the door enough to avoid cutting the hole bigger.

My 2 cents based on my install....
I mounted my amp inder the driver's seat and the wOOx under the passenger seat, but I mounted everything TO THE SEAT rather than the floor. This is more stealth even than what Nuke did, although it will take a little more effort. I have been running the wOOx now for a while and have been pretty happy with it (once I put some isolation between the box and the seat to cure initial rattles).

I believe the common wisdom for the stock wires is over 50 W per channel RMS, you may want to consider an upgrade, but otherwise you'll be fine (care to confirm 1st?).

This thread has some info on what my install was comprised of if you want more dteails (although I gather you've seen the thread already from your previous words)

Space Saving Bass

I took a few pictures that I could email, if you want to PM me an email address. I will be putting them up on my website, put that's a low priority project for me at the moment.

Dale.
