Two Questions
First: What do most of you consider to be the top-of-the-line car audio company when it comes to speakers, subs etc. My friend considers Phoenix Gold but i think there is a better company out there
Second: What are the speakers holes in the rear doors of a Protege sedan for? There don't seem to be any speakers in them, I can't hear anything from them anyway.
Thanks again.

#1, Most companies have several levels of speakers so to say top of the line is a little misleading. FOr example, Alpines top of the line speakers are vastly more expensive then the JL audio top of the line.
For speakers the highest priced and best performing are usualy the same. Also many speakers of this caliber are ment to be mated with a high powered high quality amplifier, not a US acoustics or Profile.
Speaker:
Focal, Rainbow, MB Quart, Dynaudio, Alpine, Image Dynamics and there are many others. Each of these companies have different series of speakers but all can topple the $1000 per set mark.
Subs again depend on the goals, SPL or SQ or just how much to one side you want.
Subs: JL, Kicker, Eclipse, Image Dynamics, MB Quart, Focal.
Once again may others. The ones I listed are typicaly considered SQ subs. There are a crap load of subs like Earthquake and Ground Zero that are more for SPL
For SPl you have plenty of manufactures:
MTX, Orion, Cerwin Vega, Rockford Fosgate, Mmatts and for Blue Ledz, Power acoustics.
For amps:
JL, Kicker, Alpine, Pheonix Gold, MTX, Orion, PPI and a lot more.
Pheonix Gold is Best known for there amps which are deffinitly top of the line.
