Howdy all,
I'd like to add strobe lights to my 2002 P5, so
the headlights, taillights and ideally turn-
signals flash when activated. The only kits I've
seen seem to require drilling to install an extra
light source. I was hoping I could replace the
lights and add a toggle+potentiometer to control
them, using the stock holes+wiring. Has anyone else done this? Are there any kits to do what I'm looking for?

this is the closest thing i have seen to what you want to do. it mounts behind your head lights. i havent seen anything for turn signals or tail lights.

 

I've seen the strobe elements at PepBoys, most likely the one's you've found already. They do require drilling, but they come with a rubber grommet so you shouldn't have to worry too much about leaks. They come in a pair and are already wired with the controller, all you have to do is wire them up to a power source.

 

Thanks! The drilling makes me nervous since I'm
in south florida and humidity is always an issue,
but you're right a rubber grommet would probably
be fine, just being overly paranoid. The SPW kit looks very good though, I'll probably give that a try. If I do I'll let you all know how it turns out!

ive done this before, if you have an mp5. youll have shavings in your lense that will look like crap unless you actually open up the lense. Static make the shaving very hard to remove.

 

FYI, the SPW kit is a small light bulb that doesn't flash. It's only as bright as your parking lights.

 

i added my own "city lights" many moons ago, i used the GM style rubber sockets (that also seal up like a grommet) they work fine and looked good, but you'll NEVER have a clean lens again. I think it was the downfall to my lenses yellowing and condensation build up. Unless you can pull the lenses apart, i suggest not drilling.

I suspect with the humidity in FL, you'll have soggy lenses within no time.
