rear speaker grill

I wondering what other 1st geners have used for a grill on the rear deck speakers. I left the stock grill on and, due to the Macguyver-ish setup I used to get the speakers in, I can't really unscrew them to get their grill on.

I'm asking cause stock grill is buzzing something awefull against the skrews or something when i turn the music up.

I'm thinking of putting sound deading stuff on the whole deck, but that requires money and I bet I can fix it w/o buying anything... I'm thinking of like propping up the board around the speakers, so it cant rest on them... ideas?

hhmm mounting from below... interesting. My infinity refernces have 4 screws, so to make a 4 screwed peg fit in a 3 holed hole, i cut the stock speakers out of their mounting bracket, drilled mine into the bracket, and screwed it back in. But that means that my speakers stick out higher than the stock ones, hence the buzzing

hahaha, I'm glad you like that. The reason I did it like that is that I didnt think my schisty drill would handle the metal in the deck.

They are 5.25", the same size as the OEM's

Ok, here's the lowdown on rear deck installs. I do this stuff everyday. The factory grills will work. Take the back deck cover off and screw the speaker right to the deck -w- short screws (self tapper's if you have them). The cover should have some styrofoam spacer's to keep it off of the deck (mine does). The only rattles I get is from bass. E-mail me if you need any info or help.
