Painted my Calipers this weekend.
TurboTodd, have you seen the Folia Tec paint on any online retail store? I hate sleazbay, and would rather pay a retailer for the kit.
Grab the latest issue of SCC. There are a couple of vendors selling the brush style, with degreaser, etc. I'd give you specifics, but my 4 year old daughter took my latest issue with her this morning when she went with my wife running errands.

If ANYONE knows where I can get some ORANGE caliper paint, please let me know. I would rather a brush on, but I might go with the spray as well. Ive seen high-tempature paint at Walmart and Home Depot, but not in orange. Thanks.

Yea, but that would be expensive! 50 bucks a kit! Plus, I would have to play around with the paint until I get the orange I want, which would definitly lead to errors.

At a price like that you can afford to mess up the color mixing a bit!!

I got mine from Home Depot, but i've seen them at Wally Mart too.
Just get the SMALLEST can you can find.. I hardly used any out of the can at all.
Also picked up a fine tipped brush for the small hard to reach spots and a smallish foam brush for the larger areas. A foam brush won't leave brush strokes.
If your calips are like mine and still pretty new, you can get away with just getting in there with a toothbrush and rubbing alcohol to clean them off. No rust or anything yet to worry about.
Only thing with that paint is it takes a while to dry - especially if you put the paint on pretty thick. It was dry but tacky still after a couple hours. Was fully dry (didn't smell like wet paint anymore) after a couple days.

Is this paint high-temp? Thanks for all the tips, sorry I keep asking more questions. Has anyone had this type of paint on their calipers for a long period of time? Im wondering well it will last? How long have you had yours on? I wish protegeclub.com had a IRC channel! (do we??)

I know that Maxx Mazda has had this paint on his engine AND his calipers for what is it, 8 months now Maxx? and he hasn't had any problems yet. I've had mine on for about a month, and they look as good as they did from day one. No bubbling, peeling, etc.
I've blasted it pretty good with the wand wash at the car wash and it's held up to that too. Just make sure you really let it dry and cure before you start workin it..
It's not specifically listed as a high temp paint, but it is metal paint and as such bonds with it. I've taken my vehicle out and worked the brakes and just touched them afterwards to see how hot they get, and although the rotors heat up pretty good, the calipers were never worse than warm, so I don't think there's really a problem with heat. I haven't been out racing yet, that will be the true test, but according to Maxx he's REALLY worked his brakes and hasn't had a problem yet.
I have pics of it, but seeing as I haven't gotten the roll of film developed yet, they're not on my site yet! But soon. I finally finished the roll this weekend so I'll have them developed in the next day or 2.
Sandman, I have some more questions. I found some Rustoleum paint @ Home Depot and Walmart for $3 a can. Is this the same stuff you are talking about? Walmart also had some Krylon Oil Enamal paint and also Krylon Latex Enamal paint. I dont think the last (2) paints are rust resistant, so they probably arent good to use. I did a search for the brand you mentioned, but didnt find much info on it.
Here is a link to the Rustoleum. I dont see anything about high heat resistance, but it comes in the color I want... orange!

Hmm.. nope - i saw those there too but went with tremclad since that's what Maxx recommended. I know - tremclad doesn't have a website or anything, but it's a very popular paint for painting just about anything, including calipers. I did a search and found a couple other sites where guys had painted their calips using the same stuff.
The paint i used was called Tremclad Rust Paint and for the small can I think cost me about 3 bucks CDN.
Came in spray and brush on varieties and just about every size of can you can imagine. The can had white labelling with a black bar on top and bottom i believe. I found it in the exterior paint section.
I noticed that walmart actually had tremclad BBQ paint too, but they didn't have any colors that I liked. heh.. if ever there would be a weather and heat resistant paint, that would be it eh? I know my BBQ gets to be as hot as the sun sometimes.. (at least to me it seems that way!)
