What is a HID kit? I recently installed Xenon bulbs(3 months ago) in my 91dx and the left bulb burnt out. Don't know what's going on since these shouldn't be burning out that fast right? Any way of fixing this?
Also, how do I disable the daytime driving light on a 1991 protege dx?

I am not sure what an HID kit is, but aparently it sends more power to the light bulbs thus making them brighter. As for your bulbs burning out. When you were installing them, you were NOT supposed to touch the bulb itself (glas part). It is coated with a special chemical that is heat sensitive. If you were to touch it just a little bit, you might have left some of the residue (oil, dirt) that were on your hands. In time that made the bulb over heat, and there you go, it does not work anymore. I have had mine for more than half a year, and not a problem.

trdr has the HID kits, its a complete setup of wires HID housings and bulbs. HID lights are what the S2000, Bmw's and Mercedes have. They are really bright and look like flourecent lights.
anyways look in the forsale wanted parts section, Trdr is selling the HID kits for all gens of proteges

Here is the technical explanation of HID lighting....
High Intensity Discharge (HID) is a new type of lighting technology that replaces the old halogen gas bulbs that use a heated tungsten filament. HID lamps operate more like vapor filled streetlights. They don't have a filament but create light by zapping an arc between two electrodes. That arc excites a different kind of gas usually Xenon, which in turn ignites metallic salts. The light produced by an HID Xenon lighting system is greater than a standard halogen bulb and with less power consumption. On the road, HID Xenon lighting systems appear as a bright white beam which resembles natural daylight. The bright white beam offers greater visibility and road safety. HID systems are now found in luxury equipped cars such as the top of the line BMW, Lexus and Mercedes systems.
Basically an HID kit uses ballasts, igniters and replacment bulbs. It wires into your existing wiring harness to allow power to the ballasts and igniters which then go to your HID bulbs. What you are using is a Xenon style bulb. It is nothing more than a coated, brighter halogen bulb. It uses alot more power than standard halogen bulbs and quite a bit more than a true HID system. Not too many of the aftermarket 'Xenon" halogen bulbs last very long. I had a set of Nokyas for my h/l and one burned out within 2 months and I had a set of Eurolites for my f/l and one burned out two weeks after that. True universal HID conversion kits cost anywhere between $400-$800. And legally in the US HID can be used for low beam lighting only.
