Bulbs

Has anyone actually replaced their bulbs in the Pro5? Is the low beam an H7? I think replacing this bulb is probably one of the hardest things to do in this car. After replacing these low beams, the new stereo was a cinch!!

It was OK for me, but I put stock bulbs back in. Eurolite Fusion suck big time, mostly because they are not straight. When winter comes I want to try Wagner
Britelites, they rocked in my Nissan NX2000. I am not sure if they have H7 though.

Im working on getting some Falcons in to test out from Daryl. He seems to really like them & they are about half the price of the PIAA's I may get to sell. Once I get them & try them out, I'll decide if I want to sell them.

Mitch is in the process of testing a new brand and if all goes well, he will have them for sale through Protege5online.

I got some H4 80/100watt bulbs on Ebay that are great. I can't remember the brand at the moment though.

well, I don't really want HID lighting, but I would like that white light, with the tiny bit of blue in it.. not a lot of blue, just a very light, ... and maybe a touch of purple.. hehe...

Hmm...I wonder how different the P5's are from the MP3's? I know I replaced my lights with some PIAA superwhites(H4) and they were soooo much easier than my old honda accord. Now that was a pain in the assss. I changed my MP3 lights in like 2min. Looks awsome btw, very bright, they perform like a 110watt bulb. pretty expensive though but very cool looking

I can see this turning into a bulb war, so here's my $.02

I have EuroLights in my Protege ES, and while they look really cool, they light things up like crap smears in the toilet. I have Sylvania CoolBlue's in my Civic, and they are awsome. They are a little brighter than stock, and have a slight blue/white look to them. The best part is they only cost like a dollar more than standard replacements.

Eurolites are made by ractive (toucan ind.) at first i thought they may be decent, but after seeing the beam and having 3 burn in a matter of weeks....my initial feeling was maintained, THEY SUCK!

The falcon's i have been testing and will be sending to Mitch for more testing seem to be of decent quality, warranty exchangable, good beam coverage and a nice white light. Oh and bright as hell.

Hey gujustud,

I've got sylvannia cool blues in my car. It cost $17.99 for 1 bulb at Canadian tire.

Tell me if you want to take a quick look at them, I'll meet up with you sometime soon. You're just in richmond right?

I'm satisfied w/the lights. Originally my friend w/an integra suggested them to me, he's got them. It looks better in his car. I think it's cuz the light housing is smaller, so it seems whiter.

I'm trying to white the turn signals. Apparently, it is the bulb with the amber coating, so I'm just looking for a bulb w/blueish coating on it, if I can't find it, i'll just get some cellophane and line the inside of the turn signal lens. I've already got a clear bulb (pale yellow colour... eek) so maybe that'll whiten it up. =P. It'll be dimmer definitely.. but hey.. it's just a turn signal =)

I had the Sylvannia cool blues also. I didn't think they made much of any difference.

blah! yeah I forgot about this post.

I ended up buying my lights from plasmalights.com (from ebay tho, cuz I got a smokin deal) they seem pretty good, service is good from them, and lights seem alright, although not as BRIGHT as I thought, but definetly helps in the dark for sure, and makes the car stand out.

Fulminatus: I'm gonna get clear corners for my '99 next year, in the spring time, and I'll need the same bulbs for my corners (the blueish type). I'll check with Plasmalights, i'm sure they have it.

A good read.. Definitely recommend to anyone thinking about bulbs.

- looked up specs in manual, bought H4 12V 60/55W, what does 60/55W mean? What does H4 mean?
I believe that means that the bulb draws 55W during normal headlight on usage, and 60W when highbeams are on.

H4 is the type of bulb. Other names that it goes by are 9003 and HB2. I forgot why there are different names. Maybe it has something to do w/what spec if follows/meets (north american or european). Someone else?? Check out the FAQ, this may be answered??

Has anyone changed their fog lamp bulbs in the 2001 ES? Does anyone know the bulb type for certain? I've heard at least one person say that it is an H3 bulb.

Thx

Re: sorry about the late post...

- Bought Toucan Industries Eurolite Xenon Fusion bulbs, opinions?

I have had the eurolites bulbs for over a month (fog) and have yet to experience any problems with it. I recently bought erolites for my low beams. Again no problems. Although I know alot of people don't like them.

From what I understand....H4 is the size of the bulb. (H4 or 9003? Is that right? I'm sure if I'm wrong someone will correct me) 60/55w is your low/high beam watts.

- Can I also replace my fog bulbs?
Yes, but it will probably require a different bulb size.

- Can I put higher wattage bulbs in the headlight assembly?
Yes. It will be brighter. But it might burn out faster.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong
