i'd be extremely careful about ordering a fiberimages hood. many unhappy customers due to broken hoods being shipped.

Question

The supposed rule of thumb on weight is what 100lbs ='s .001 off times ? Unless that hood weighs 500lbs, who is going to lie through their teeth and tell me that they can feel the difference between .001 seconds in a 0-60 or 1/4 mile ?

First, You're assuming that the purpose for weight reduction is only acceleration. Second, I think your numbers are incorrect about the difference weight reduction makes in acceleration.

Are you referring to me? Either way, there are many different reasons for being a car enthusiast. For me, it's handling and speed. For other people it's looks, car audio, etc. I don't presume everyone needs to be interested in the same things I am. If you aren't interested in a carbon fiber hood, it's simple, don't get one.

You know, I've seen a couple of people across different groups say stuff like this. Because its not something they want or feel they need for their car, they try to make everyone else think its a bad thing. Take the CF hoods for instance. Like you said, if you dont want it or dont like it, dont buy it!! I sell them but I dont plan on having every item I sell on my car (CF hood being one of them) but I dont think they are bad, they just arent for me. And if its not for you, then theres nothing wrong with that. And if you want to cover you car in stickers & bump bad rap music & add some hydrolics to your car, then do it if thats what you want. Its your car & thats why you have it. To enjoy it. Dont confuse someones views as truth. But, you still need to listen to peoples insites on parts or else you wont know what is a good product or a bad product (dont confuse bad product with someones view that is doesnt look good or not good for them). Just try & not make someone believe your views of things and dont tell someone that something they want to do is ugly or stupid or a waste of time (unless it truely is). Its their dream, let them have it. How many times do we see a Honda drive by that looks horrible but you know the person driving it loves it & thinks its the best car there is! Thats fine, let them have their fun...until you beat them off the line in your Protege!!!

Hopefully I 'll get a CF hood, i just love how they look. as for the information on fiberimages, this is all off of clubsi and members experiences with them. several members that i've met and seen their hoods in person and i was too impressed with them.

Talking All I said is......

I just dont get it, I dont get the " Ricers " who turn a honda into a loud farting visual nightmare with junk all over it, an exhaust that looks like it can shoot grapefruits out the back, with a wing the size of a park bench and graphics, neon, slogans, and everything but a sign that says " Eat at Joe's " on their Civics. They are more than entitled to think that it is great and that they have the Phattest Ride EVER YO !

At the same time I'm allowed to think that all the stuff they do is just a plain waste of time and money!!

And then we get the back to the point of the Carbon Fiber Hood if we may, I think it's a ricer thing that is not for me, and I was asking other people's input on the subject, AKA sell it to me why I should plop 475 down for a hood that weighs 9 pounds ?

So far all the best answer is the look. Sorry not for me.

You wanna look cool, awesome go for it ! I'm going to get my jollies by smoking your doors off in my rusted POS Buick while your girl, deaf from the loud music pumping out of your 400 watt system screams over to you, WHAT WAS ALL THAT TIRE SCREEECHING NOISE ?? WAS THAT YOU ???

Just lean over and say, YEAH BABY THAT WAS US !!

If you get to drive the Buick, I'm driving my roommate's formula firebird with the modded 350

This thread just went of topic

If your gonna complain about a cf hood, why not complain about 17"+ rims? MOST are heavy and thus hurt performance. But then again, nobody ever took pictures of my stock 15"s.

Talking Yes it was a big Rant

Sorry, but people get touchy and I'm not trying to Flame anyone

What I am saying is that in my honest opinion a Carbon Fiber Hood doesn't seem like such a wonderfull Mod for the price.

The Bling Bling rims... well, Thats my next rant...... lol

What's wrong with Chrome rims, loud rap music, and even hydraulics? To everybody their own....... true that the last one doesn't really fit with a Protege (haha, damn, that's funny, a pro with hydros ), but I wouldn't mind chrome wheels.....

Chrome haters, you get this special face and also up yours! hehehe, j/k if you're mad, then here's one of these and if even the gay wink doesn't work, well what can I do?

What's happening with the carbon fiber hoods? Is anyone planning on making one for the '99-'00 Proteges? Are there any more people interested in them for these cars?
