I agree HH, my amp can handle a 1/2ohm load bridged mono and 1/4ohm stereo, so I would be getting 600 versus 400 watts RMS from the SoundStream 6.0. On the flip side, it is an older amp and perhaps I can get more mileage with a single voice coil. I have run DVCs for years and had no problems, but the amp does get hot! It has thermal rollback which automatically senses it getting a certain temp and rolls back the output (supposably without being noticed, but I never had it happen, unless of course it really is unnoticable). Also, I would have to switch it to high current mode if pushing DVC subs which can tax the car's electrical system (battery, alternator, etc.). To be or not to be? That is the question. I am ordering the subs next week and have to decide.

yeah, I got 4 gauge running to a power distribution block and a 1.5 farad stiffening cap. From the dist. block, I have 8 gauge wire running to both amps (less than 1 foot from the block). I think a new battery would be the key. I took the amp out of my car and opened it up. Thing looks brand new still on the inside. No dust nor dirt. I see you have an admirer by the name of guitargod. <Sheesh> His posts show how ignorant some can be. The guy can't even spell. "Yous suk bloo leadzs! I wanna mor bass butt dont wont two hirt my eres!" What a goon! For once, I am looking forward to the beginning of the week to order the subs (only to look forward to the end, when I receive them. I will let you know how they sound. Also, I wanted to get a digital camera, but subs come first, so perhaps I can borrow my dad's camera. He just purchased it last week. Then I can send pics <finally> I have been wanting to post some on SoundDomain too. I intended on getting a digital camera, but then the rubber surrounds went on my subs so I ended up chunking them in a dumpster. The only other option was to spend $150 plus shipping/insurance to have them rebuilt. With that amount, the EDesigns are worth paying a little more and get a 3 year warranty. I'll keep you posted.

Which eDesign speaker?

Hey Mister T,
I noted several eDesign speakers at different price points. Being fairly, disgustingly, poor, I want to get the most for my buck. Which ones are you getting,,,and do you think that their bottom line is even worth looking at. The price seems good (130 for a twelve) but I dont want to throw away 130 only to be unhappy with sound quality.

Thanks

I haven't gotten mine just yet, but plan on ordering Monday afternoon or Tuesday. The check is in the bank (I have a debit card and stay away from the credit cards), so I want it to clear first so EDesigns can have it shipped to me by the end of this week hopefully. I'll keep you posted on how it sounds. If it sucks, it's Blue Ledzz fault! LOL only kidding!

get all the wire and terminals here:
www.knukonceptz.com
wire is under power wire, $.99 a foot for 4 guage, and terminals are the second page of installation accesories, on sale for $.99 each also, where on the east coast are you located? if it's SC or below, i could probably get a battery for you, for pretty cheap
Looks complicated! I would rather go with a new battery then go through wiring all that stuff. Looks like a nightmare!!! hee hee I am going to test my stiffening cap with my tongue to make sure it is working. I won't be able to taste anything for a month, but I'll know for sure! Seriously, I am a newbie to installs. I learned a lot from taking out my stuff when trading in cars and asking questions. When I worked at a hifi shop, I worked in sales and inventory, mainly inventory stuff, so I used to be up to date on what was good and what sucked. We had a guy come in with an amp from a company who used the old put a piece of heavy metal (like a magnet) to fool people in to thinking the amp weighs a ton, so it must be a great amp. He had it bench tested and the thing was the size of your two hands together and rated at a 1000 watts or something ridiculous. Maybe for a millisecond at a high frequency. Thanks for the info though!

First off...I will swear by the Edesign subs. I had one of the earlier K models and it is being replaced by one of the newer K designs. Their customer service is awsome.

The Ground Wire idea is and excellent idea and it is not that difficult. Just a little time consuming, but what is better than working on your car, right? (Well, besides that!) Not only does it help reduce noise in the system, it also helps with power delivery and dimming. I just did all the ground in my car this weekend. I now have a 1/0 from battery to chassis, two 4 guage from battery to ground points and severla other 4 gauge ground points. I also have 1/0 from battery to amps. I am going to run new 4 gauge from battery to power points (fuse box and where ever else the other wire goes.)

Blue Ledz, any idea when EDesigns will be shipping new subs out? I want to order some this afternoon, but hopefully won't have to wait so long for them to come in. The pictures on their site are still prototype pics. I did some minor tweaking and my mids and highs really shine loud and clear. I just need some bass to top it off. In the meantime, I am doing some wire tweaking to help with the slightly dimming headlights.

Well, I am not BlueLEDz, but they have already begun shipping them. They said on their forum that they will not be able to ship them all at once and that it might take a few weeks to get them all out. Some people have already got theirs, I am still waiting on mine. Hopefully here this week, I blew the Bazooka I was using in the meantime! Anyway, there are some pics of the woofer that some has received here:

Sweet!!! I guess this means I will be waiting later than Friday for shipment. I just have it shipped UPS Ground. No sense in rushing it when it will probably take a while any way. It'll give me something to look forward to! Besides, the price is so good that I can go out and get some extras if necessary (like a bigger battery, etc.). Just hope to get the gold plated terminals and black basket. They made so many of them before changing over. No difference in performance, but they are unique, so what the hell!

I got an adire shiva sub. I paid 125 shipped for it. I would have gotten the edisgn 12k but i couldn't wait. I'm running 300watts into it in a large sealed box, for a "cheap" sub i am really impressed . I'm satisfied with it for now....

eDesign subs...what to power it with

Alright, I am sold on a 12 eDesign sub. Now I need power and a box. Any recommendations on this? Ya'all have been most helpful so far and I greatly appreciate it. I would have had a big target on my forehead walking into the stereo shop without this input.

What are you getting, one sub or a pair? And if so, which one, the dual voice coil (DVC) or the single voice coil? Last, but certainly not least, what kind of price range are you looking at (so you can get the best amp for your dollar)?

One sub, not sure but I think dual voice coil. As far as price 50-200 for the amp is my range. I know 50 is not gonna happen but you did ask for a price range. I can go a little higher if i need to, but that will slow down the process.
