If you happen to have a tape measure handy.. can you measure how deep each one is... it looks like the new one would be like half an inch deeper! since the old ones are set in to give room for the lid.. all I had heard about them was that it was a 'tiny' bit deeper... have you tested it with squishies? thats the true test...

Here is a shot of the two holders with bottles of water in them. The old ones are 4.5 cm (1 7/8") deep and the new ones are 7 cm (2 3/4") deep. The first one is the old holder and the second is the new one. Okay I may be old but what is a squishie?

Wow.. more then half an inch.. looks LOVELY with the stylin water bottle in there .. and yeah now I see how obvious the colour difference is..

As for squishie.. you opened quite the can of worms there.. a squishie is known to those not addicted as a slurpie.. a slush.. etc..

there are 3 "stages" in a squishies life..
1)squishie.. (the best stage) because its.. well..squishie..
2)slurpie (still ok.. but not as great) its partially melted and slurps
3)slush (yuck).. flat fountain pop..eeew

The cupholders are the same size.. so it would only fit the 2 smallest sizes of squishie (macs squishies are the best.. sev-elevs are second).. but.. atleast it won't spill now.. I can't wait to get mine!

Actually the size of the cup holders are different. The passenger's is larger than the driver's. It's bigger at the top but the bottom is smaller. The bottle still moves around but now at least it does not fly out.

Hmm.. its hard to tell by looking at a picture.. but I don't think it'll fit my fav size of squishie.. expecially if the bottom is smaller.. my size has a pretty wide base.. but hey.. this is squishie research.. it's important to be sure.. why don't you go load up on coke squishies and swing by tonight and show me There's a macs right across the street.. could it BE any easier? (yeah I didn't think so.. but I had to ask )

Thanks for all your info and pictures on this.. figure out where you want your (and your sig others) free meal if you're still willing to paint mine for me when I get it

I think the cup holders are basically the same at the bottom but as I said Mazda raised the outside up so I guess the research into what fits goes on, right?

If you don't get yours before the meet, I'll bring both along and we can do the touchy feeley thing, (on the cup holders) . Maybe I'll wait until after the meet before I paint so people can see the difference.
