Does anyone have a complete list of all changes/addons to the 2003 P5?

You said you ordered the 2003 cup holder? He said they don't have parts lists for the 2003's yet.. you get yours from the 'other' dealership?? (tsk tsk)

So sorry I was mistaken. It seems that it is still from the 2002 catalog however it appears that Mazda changed out the cup holders to the new style in the later models. Jim called me and I gave him the part number. The only reason I went ahead was that I saw the cup holder in a 2002 P5 in Red Deer.

As for the manual or auto, it is still the same cup holder, but there is an attachment for the auto shifter.

Nod.. that's kinda what I figured.. that it was the 2002.5 cup holders.. Jim said it didn't look like they really changed from 2002.5 to 2003..

Thanks for all your help on this!! (and your help to come on it too..bwahah )..

I had heard that it was 85 US for the cupholder piece when I was looking into changing it.. and that was seemed a little bit rediculous to me.. but this price I can handle..

Well, to tell the truth, I still think it is a bit much for just a cup holder but it does fit the car and matches (okay it will after I paint it ) plus will cause me so much less aggravation. I think that is worth some money.

Well yeah.. it's still kind of crazy.. I think mazda should be replacing all of ours as a recall or something.. because the current ones are crap!

BUT its worth the money to make any attempt at making them useful.. I was considering cutting holes in the bottom of the existing ones.. I was so fed up!

No.. I was completely serious.. its obviously a serious safety hazard and I expect mazda to fix it.. I guess I didn't make my sarcasm obvious enough there?? ..

I wasn't sarcastic about the crap part tho

Thats funny because I was thinking the same thing. Hmmm is that a good thing or a bad thing .

I asked on this board if someone would go measure the new cup holder and they said it was the same as the old ones. I'll bet they never did measure it. I don't think they are the same, at least they don't look the same as they look deeper.

As for it being a safety hazard, one time a bottle of water flipped out and rolled under my pedals so there is your safety issue.

They looked deeper to me too.. of course I've only seen them thru a closed window in a parking lot..

If they don't turn out to be better.. I'll cut the bottoms out of one of them and try that out.. I'm okay cutting my car if I have a back up

Yesterday in Sandmans P5, my bottle of coke went flying and I caught it falling..I could have pulled something..

What I got a real kick out of when I got my car.. is the dealership had given me a couple of mazda travel mugs when I bought my car.. the VERY first corner (and I was driving like a granny).. the mugs were gone.. 2002 Mazda cup holders apparently can't even hold Mazda cups!

Yup got the cups too (Hey stop that ). I got the blue ones and just as you, they stand too tall. Gee maybe this is why they changed them?

Okay so I picked up my new cup holders. First of all it's silver, so does not match my interior. Second, fits the same as the one that came with the car except for one thing. I was wrong about the cup holders, Mazda did not make them deeper but instead raised the outside portion of the cup holder, so it is deeper that way. Olay I may not be making sense but you get the drift. So there is the next problem, or not. By raising the outside of the cup holder, it now no longer matches the centre console. Not a big deal at all in my books.

I'll post some pics plus the painting of it to match my interior.

However, the best thing is, now the bottles don't fly out and everything is good. I still would have liked Mazda to give you some rubber fingers to hold the cup in the cup holder though. Oh well.

Okay, here is my new cup holder installed. The first picture is the new one still in its silver finish and the second is the slight problem with the side where it meets the console. I'll post the difference between the two later tonight.

The "problem" doesn't look like a problem to me.. probably looks like it was supposed to be that way once its in there..

The original one is more of a metallic grey not silver. I will repaint as it really does not match any of the other parts in the car.

I had a look at one of the P5s in the lot at the dealer and I saw that the centre console comes up and is level with the side of the new cup holder. So not only did they change the cup holder, they changed out the centre console to match.
