What's wrong with Silver P5
#16
Amen to that, yellow P5 driver. So far I heared only good stuff about my yellow P5.....last time someone said a nice thing about my car is less than 24 hours ago..it was this guy that was driving a GMC Denaly...so.. I love my yellow P5. Most people don't have the ***** to get a yellow car (assuming they like yellow).
Also about flying under the radar...there is no such thing(at leased that's what I belive). Cuz what happeded last week to me was totally strange.
I was goinf about 30 more than the speed limit and there were 2 cops, one of the with the speed-gun in his hand and the other one got in front of me to stop me...but what happened next is what's kool...once I got back to 50, he steped back onto the sidewalk smiled and indicated with his hand for me to go on. Beat that in any other color car than yellow.

Hehehe, I got black mica cause it's the nicest looking colour out there. Did anyone actually see what it looks like at night and under the sun? It's got these little silver dots in it that make it look soooooo good. So take that, Black Mica Haters!!!

So the next time you hear someone saying that the cops will be all over you because you have a yellow car, tell em thats BS. Unless you have a yellow Formula car riding down the street, the cops will treat you like an other joe.

'fes up
Admit it y'all. The P5 is a flashy car to begin with. With the big front end and the body styling it just screams "CHECK ME OUT BABY!!!" That's why most of us chose it over say a Corolla or Daewoo wagon.
That said I think the yellow is a bit too much but I respect those going for the total package. I chose Red 'cause it's a classic sport color, it stands out yet it's a bit more subtle then the yellow, which I admit is the new classic sports color. Hell I even see Monte Carlos and Camaros in yellow now.

I decided on silver, because it looked great on a P5 and I know the paint will also look good for a good 5 years with out a lot of maintenance. I thought of getting yellow, but yellow and red fade color and will also attract the wrong attention. Dark blues and Blacks color cars will look wet sanded after a few years of being on the road, No thanks!! I really need a color that will last a long time and is very easy to take care of. I also was a head detailer at Ziebart for a few years and I know a lot about paint. So take it from me Silver is a smart choice.

Silver is popular because it works
Silver is now the most popular color for all cars, for the reasons stated previously by many of the posters - easy maintenance primarily. Something like 20-25% of all new cars are in silver. Also, you never get tired of it and wish it was something else. Also, nobody is ever turned off to it in resale. Lots of people won't buy a red car, or a black car, but silver always sells.
That said, my next car is going to be dark blue, like my 91 DX. The paint has held up very well over 11 years, looks new and I like blue.
Yellow in a sedan or hatchback is taxi-ish. In a roadster it is great. The 1st gen Miatas in Sunburst yellow are a prized rarity.

I dont know where this "stereotype" came from, but having a yellow car doesnt make you more prone to the cops eye
I'm not ******* the other colors.... just when I went to buy I knew they stood out too much for me. Didn't the insurance co's do a study of the least likely car colors to be in a collision. I think light (ie bright) green was least followed by yellow.

man if you hit a bright yellow or lime green car and pull the old "I didn't see you" bullshit you should be shot on sight. That's like telling a cop you only had 10 beers and were doin 95 but you aren't drunk.
