They really do need a better alt, I can't stand how bad the lights dim at night with just the A/C on. It looks like I am flashing my lights.

Yeah I test drove a DX and was like **** that (it was also in an automatic), and opted for the p5 which was the sole purpose of me showing up there. I was just about to leave when the sales manager asked the dumbass sales man if I test drove the ES. They just had some come on the lot and still had wrapping. Not many colors to choose from, white, gold, dark green, and black. I chose black, but dark green would have been my 2nd choice. I am glad I was able to get it in black

As for the alternator, my amps are very inefficient do to them being Class A, and I am looking at perhaps a problem with the cap and am going to wire some 4 gauge from bat to the alt. to see if that helps. I am hoping my 1.5 farad cap is bad and that the problem will be solved with minimal costs.

Least favorite things about Protege (in no particular order):

1. Small front cup holders
2. No trunk release on keyless entry
3. Steering wheel doesn't adjust for reach

No it's a 2001.

I hate the fact that the remote doesn't have trunk release either. I noticed that from the get go. I guess they would make the alarm go off because when you do go in the trunk, you have to open a door first to keep it from arming itself. I disarmed it, loaded the trunk with groceries not realizing the alarm set back to arm, closed the trunk, and off with the horn!!

I saw your post... replace your stock seats with sportier seats, like the ones found in the P5. I did and it did wonders for my back.

DAMN! This thread started over a year ago! Who resurrected this one? Well as long as it's up...

I hate the vanity mirrors. They don't line up with your face when in the resting position--you have to pull them out of their catches to see yourself.
Now you're wondering... am a woman or just gay? Neither--I'm a heterosexual male and as such I have a girlfriend... and she bitches EVERY-TIME she gets in the car and tries to adjust her makeup! I want to shoot the engineers...

OK, I have to vent about this one. My Wipers for my MSP IS THE WORSE WIPERS I have EVER SEEN!!! It does not clear up quickly, it is kinda distorted, there is a real big safety issue here, and when I bring my car to service, I am going to yell about it. Oh yea, and besides that, nothing else.

=)

Bman:

Pisses me off the most? Well, I'd say the P5 is overall a pretty decent ride. Aside from what other members have mentioned, I'd have to highlight that the procedure to replace the headlights on the P5s sucks! Wire holders? That is jacked. The system used for high-beam bulbs (i.e. turn and replace) should have been incorporated into the low-beams as well. My other main beef is the crappy paint. It seems like if you cough on these cars they chip. Not too impressed...

Scott.

Finally used the cupholders, and I must say, I see no problems with them. They hold the drinks sturdy and doesn't move at all. Small/med/large all fit perfect.

I read earlier the 2003.5 cupholders are a little different, Mine was made in May of 03 would it be considered a .5 or no?

The rear defroster does not shut off automatically and if I forget to turn it off and then don't drive the car for a few days, the battery is dead when I go to use it. The service people tell me the only thing they can do is disconnect the defroster completely, which I find totally unacceptable.

The switch illuminates when the defroster is on, just check it prior to turning off the vehicle.
