My first gripe is the alternator. I never had problems with light dimming in previous cars including a BASE MODEL ECLIPSE with a smaller alternator. Secondly would be that the AC could stand to be colder IMO. I took it in because in the hottest part of summer, it would take forever to cool down, but nothing was wrong. Oh well, overall, I love the car. I looked at it for it's reliability and the fact that I could fit my 6'4 body in without hitting the dash and/or roof, and fell in love with the handling and it's peppiness.

I noticed the A/C isn't really cold, and when it's on, the car struggles quite a bit at idle. I took it to Mazda and the guy said it works fine....
Secondly, the seats are so very high... I always feel like I'm inches taller when I sit in the P5. And yes, I've tried lowering it but that doesn't really make the seat lower.

It shouldn't struggle at idle. I can hardly tell my car is on when it's in idle. The dealership is pulling your leg. They need to adjust it if it is running too low. I think mine is around 7-800 RPM once it is running for about 30 seconds

Are you serious? I find that the P5s seats are the most comfortable car seat that ive ever sat in. Ive been test driving a ton of trucks since im truck shopping, and i get achy after driving for 10 min in most of them.

To each his own I guess

Just FYI - you can do something about the door locks.

I took off the door panels, unscrewed the lock button, and used a dremel with a cutoff wheel to take off about 1/2" of the threads on the lock button post.

Now, when my doors are locked, the button sits flush with the door panel and doesn't poke me in the elbow.

I'll never be able to get at it with a coathanger if I ever needed to, but oh well - neither can a potential thief. I modded all four doors.

How would you be able to use a coat hanger anyway? The locks are rectangle shaped, so theres nothing really to grab onto. Ive never tried, so it might be possible. And pratice makes perfect, have you praticed on other cars??? .... just kidding

So everytime I park my car, and when I try to open the door I forget that the doors are locked and make a fool out of myself. Because on my Cobra SVT and the Maxima that my gf drives, the doors either auto unlocks or can be opened from the inside. What are your thoughts on this?
YES!!! Very, very aggravating. A previous poster in this thread mentioned they bought a new alarm that unlocked the doors when the car was turned off.

My old Pontiac locked the doors when you took it out of park, and it unlocked the doors when you put the car in park. Very nice feature that I miss.

Does ANYONE know a way to modify our car to do this? (without buying a new alarm) I know the stock alarm is made my CodeAlarm, do they sell modules that does this?

No offense, but that sounds like a weight problem, and im not talking abou the cars weight.

oh yeah, those damn roof sill clip replacers don't come with the car and you have to remove the hedliner almost completely. plus, the **** at the dealer didnt have an item # for when i went to order. i had to find that myself, cvan u beleive that! a dealership that couldnt find the parts the "specialize" in. i tell ya.
Im not sure exactly what you are talking about. Is it for the moonroof?

i also wanted a forest green MP5 which they told me the dont have.
And they dont make hot pink also!!!

This drove me absolutely INSANE. My friends grabbing the handles trying to open the doors and having them snap back.. my poor car!!!

I spent a bunch of time looking into how to make the door handle (inside) unlock the door when it was pulled.. I had problems figuring out how to do it so it wouldn't unlock with the outside handle, and wouldn't be a danger (of getting trapped in the car) in an accident..

I'm sure it's possible.. but I'm no engineer .. I ended up getting a compustar alarm/start that unlocks all the doors when the engine is shut off..

I know this feature is listed in the manual for my alarm.. maybe your manual says something similar?

I have the factory alarm, made by CodeAlarm. This feature is not available, as far as I know.

I am so sick of the weak alternator (if not then the wiring of it) that I am ready to tade in!! I have a 1.5 farad cap, spiral battery, and a groundkit, and still the !!@#**@@ headlights dim!!! Next week I rewire 4 gauge wire from battery to alternator and if that doesn't work, I am going to wrap it around a tree!!

Sure my amps are Class A amps that are inefficient as hell, but my set up never caused dimming in previous cars!!! I am running only 900 watts RMS. Sure it is LOUD, but not competition SPL loud!!! Only other option if this doesn't work is to get a 3 farad cap which costs a few hundred dollars! I am spending too much money on **** that shouldn't be such a hassle. By the way, I took it to the dealership and every thing is within normal limits. ******* Mazda piece of ****!!!!

I think im the only one that actually likes the flip cup holders. They hold a large dr. peper from wendys perfectly, the top just rests against the side of the console and holds really tightly. Go to wendys and try it now, and while your there pick me up a number 4.

The only real gripe I have is the serious lack of power its just the low end power really. You see I have an 1.6l automatic. Thats like no power. From stop I just cant get to anykind of speed anytime soon it makes pulling into trafic almost scary.
Any speed above 40mph is fine because I just hit the gas the thing downshifts/ redlines and I get plenty of speed. The thing has a really good transmision much "smarter" then my old Veedub.
It takes me like 13sec to get to 60. That's just not safe.

Actually I have one more problem the rear pannel in my sedan and my door pannels shake like all hell when I pump up the music. The rattles are just horrible.
