Yea, I've heard of a lot of people complaining about rough idling due to EGR build-up. You'd think they would have an article on it, but I guess not ... I'm just gonna hope the dealer will take care of it and that way I don't have to worry about it anymore.

The recall is about a little screw inside the intake manifold that gets eaten up by the engine and let's say it doesn't do nice things to it. Should you get it checked out? I say go for it ... it's FREE!

Welcome--I would call the closest dealer and give them your VIN number and the date of manufacture.

if you have mods they will most likely either refuse the recall or red-flag your cars VIN number so no'one will ever give you any warranty work again.

Would a simple air filter swap also affect this? That's really the only modification I have other than all the carbon fiber. I just slapped on an AEM filter instead of the stock air box, so should I worry or take it back to stock? It's not a big deal to change but I just dont have time to ever do it!

I think some of this depends on the dealer. When this happened to me, before the recall, my car was towed to the dealer with my SRI on, since I was not in a position at the time it happened to swap it out.
The dealer never said a word about it and fixed it under warranty.

yeah. some dealers are cool and some are NOT cool. My dealer is so bad that when I purchased a NEW car they basically told me they were red-flagging the VIN in the service computers because they knew who I was and what I do.

Guess I don't have a 'rap sheet' with the Mazda dealers around here...yet.
But that's just part of what makes you so cool, right Matty?

hahah...yeah....cool. Actually I bet they like me a lot. I buy so many new cars from them they see me coming and they know I'll probably buy something.

I finally got around to doing this recall today, I guess I feel a little bit better now. It took them like 4 hours to get this done, and when I asked what they had done I had a really hard time getting an answer out of anyone. About the closest thing to a real answer I got was "we replaced the tumble valves inside the intake manifold" which I'm not sure if that's really what this recall was all about. Aren't tumble valves part of the VTCS .. what people remove to allow more airflow? I could've sworn thats not what the recall was for. Anyone .. imput?
