Want to know more about VICS

Can someone link me to a thread here, or somewhere else, that has a good technical explanation of the VICS system? I did a search and found that it's mostly mentioned in passing or is anecdotal to the conversation. I sort of know what it is, but would like to learn more detail.

VICS = Variable Inertia Charging System

the intake manifold has 2 different paths - up until 5,000rpm the air is directed through longer, smaller diameter 'runners' to produce better torque. at 5,000 rpm, 4 butterfly valves open to route the air through shorter, larger diameter 'runners' to aid breathing for high-end horsepower.

it has *nothing* to do with the VCTS of the 3rd gen
