iPod in protege

I've got a 2003 Protege DX with the stock CD Player head unit. If I go with the Sound Gate Auxilury Input Converter for my iPod. Which interface cable do I get? They don't list the Protege.

I got a head unit with aux input in the front, and I bought an aux adapter for the back as well, so I can have ipod and XM satellite radio plugged in.
FM transmitter signal quality is poor, in my mind. I tried it for quite a while.

yeah i used the RCA ports in the back of the head unit and wired a headphone jack to the aux controls... it was probably the easiest (and cheapest) mod ive ever done and so much better than any of the three FM transmitters i tried... ive now done this to 3 or 4 cars now and every one of them the owner has loved it... as for the Neo, i dont know why anyone would waste the money...

not to my knowledge, at least for the 2000ES.... but you can get a cheap head unit (at least much less than the $220 for the Neo) with a detachable face plate... what i did however to make it seem like there was no new unit was to leave the factory tape deck in place, that way when you look in the windows all you see is that and a black spot where the cd player should be, ive had it like that for 4+ years now and no problems yet (knock on wood)

I guess by now, you all realize how much I love to revive older threads. But, hey, that's why the search feature is so cool! So, here's an update on my iPod interface to my stock P5 headunit: I bought a Metra hardwired FM modulator from Best Buy. It connects directly into the antenna in the rear of the HU and when you flip the power on the remote switch, i "blocks" any radio outside radio signal from interfering. Best Buy installed it in about an hour for $23. Looks nice, and all the wires are hidden. The power switch is inside my ashtray (since I never use it) and the mini-stereo plug comes out below the DC power socket. All in all, I'm quite satisfied. It's as close as I'm going to get to actual auxilliary inputs, and is up there in sound quality to the cassette adaptor. It isn't perfect if there's a seriously strong FM signal at 88.5 or 88.9, but interference is minimal! Can't go wrong for around $66! It's cheaper than the Transpod, and because it's hardwired and not wireless, its sound is much better. Oh, and if you've been eating a lot of McD's recently and collecting Best Buy Bucks from the Monopoly game pieces, I highly reccommend it. I went in there and got an extra $14 off

So I saw a thread somewhere a while ago about someone making a setup to control your ipod and have hardwired inputs. I am willing to do some research to see what it would take to do this through the MD/Tape Deck module connector on the bottom of the factory H/U It would be sick to have a low cost custom setup. The big downside is that I will probably have to get my hands on a tape deck module to see which pins do what.
Anyone have any info on the Pins and their respective uses?
