iPod in protege

Does anyone have an iPod in your protégé?

WAFFLES October-25th-2004 12:26 PM

Bump

rktktpaul October-25th-2004 02:24 PM

Yup.

Using PIE interface from logjamelectronics.com.

P5ChemDood October-27th-2004 03:54 PM

what functions of your ipod can you control with the protege's head unit (I have an '03 P5) using the PIE interface?

rktktpaul October-28th-2004 10:25 AM

At this point none. The PIE interface only provides line-level inputs into the HU from the iPod's headphone output.

I understand that Dension has an adapter called IceLINK that works with the PIE interface to connect to the iPod's firewire port that not only provides digital output, but also will allow you to control the iPod using the HU's CD disk controls (skip/repeat tracks, etc.).

I ended up getting the neo ion from www.mp3yourcar.com - works really good and the install was cake.

and Pie has now released a Ipod box for the MAzda HU.. it works like the Ice link !
it will be out very soon.. OR you can add the PIE aux input and get line level audio

I just purchased a Kenwood - KCA-20FM FM Modulator, it will allow me to connect any device that has an .125 audio connector or an adapter from RCA to .125

I have a sweet setup that is all hardwired behind my dash, which took a lot of re-doing to get it how I wanted it for an ultra clean look. I use a panavise bracket ($49 tho, sux) for a clean look with a pda clamp mount by arkon (both are black on my black interior). I use the belkin car kit which I installed a seprate cig lighter behind the dash. I used the ai-net to female rca cable from my alpine..then from male rca to mini-jack with a ground loop isolator (all behind the dash and secure). So all you see is my ipod in a clamp on the right side of my headunit with a white cable that attaches to the bottom of my ipod through the dock connector port (cable comes out at top left corner of glove box and is hidden behind bracket.) I tried the cable comming out from the console bezel...and a few other places...the simple place of the glove box seems to look the best.

My iPod turns on when I turn on my car and pauses it then turns it off when I turn it off. If you guys want some pictures please specify. peace.

RCA aux input

Does any of this stuff provide RCA inputs? I 've got an 02.5 P5 with the stock head and want to install an Omnifi DMP 1 hard drive MP3 player. It needs RCA inputs. Help!
