I can vouch that there isn't a 130mph governor on the MSP...level road with no winds...went to 135mph..could have went higher but was starting to get close to redline (a bit over 6000 rpms in 5th)

as far as the original car the 2003 LX, you have no governor. It is correct you are drag limited. So if you get more power, you can go faster..for example I/H/E,N20,or FI

Protege_Joe most of the Mazda engines especially the FS and KL boys have a Temperature sending unit !!

A 5500rpm limit is controlled by the ECU for cold running applications when the engine temp is less than 180f so maybe its knackered and thinking the cars still cold and your being held back ??

Also have you checked the timing ?? if its off it can cause alot of probs

Also there should be a rev limiter into the redline about 7.2 on the 2.0

LOL i'm one of the original people in the first speed governor threads hehe.....

YES THE 1.8L IS GOVERNED!!!!

I have hit the speed governor numerous times, right at about 190kmph or a few ticks over, which equals about to 118MPH!!!

okay the 2.0L are NOT governed, or at least noone has gone upto the governor....

as for the 1.6Ls i dunt think they are governed, btu i cant vouch on this..... i dunno if there is anyone that has gone upto 115MPH+ on a 1.6L, but there might be, and people might have hitten a limiter

if you have then please say

but i know almost every 1.8L has said they have hit a limiter...well everyone that has gone that fast...and i knwo for sure that i have

the 2.0s, noone has hit a governor.....so i'm geussing its either really really high up, or it doesn't have one...and i think its the same condition for the MSP...

lookt hrough some of the first speed governor threads....and i will be there posting that the 1.8s HAVE speed governor, even tho everyone else was like it doesn't hehe....

and talk about back form the dead....just that this topic is back from the dead, not the thread just the topic....people if u do actually search, there is ALOT on this
