Question Factory Boot Removal ?

I looked all over this site & there's no word on how to remove the factory boot, does it just pull out or is there some other trick?

Will a Momo boot fit back in place of the factory one without any problems, cause I just received my Tomahawk **** & it doesn't go well with the factory boot

I have the answer for you.....

removing the factory boot is NOT that difficult...however...believe it or not you need to either have the arms of a two year old in size...or remove the console....

if you will open the cupholder and gently pull back on it, the whole thing pops out...its only held in with some friction clips. once ou do that..you just pick it up and off from around your shifter/boot....you will see the little frame that the boot is attached to.....there are FOUR screws that hold that little frame on the console...there are two screws accesible right in front of the shifter....but the rear two are installed from the BOTTOM!!!! grrrrr. damn engineers....anyway...to get at them you need to just remove the whold console.....stick your fingers into the gab for the E-brake handle and gently pull up...it pops out just like the cup holder.....look down...there are TWO screws to the floor that hold the console down.....then look up front on the SIDES of the console...there are two caps about the size of a dime...gently pop those off and remove those two screws...one on each side...THEN...slide BOTH of the front seats forward and open your back doors...you will find two more screws on the sides of the rear part of your console...remove those two screws and your console is loose.....take it out...and turn it over...and remove the other two screws and your boot is loose.

you will see that the way the stock boot is attached is there are little slits in the material around its circumferance.....you just remvoe the little plastic frame from it...to install an aftermarket boot you will need to cut it to length...then make the little slits....then just reinstall it all in reverse order.

and to answer your question about the MoMo boot....YES it will.

:{D have fun!!!

Variation

you can remove the leather boot part from the plastic frame, eliminating the hassle of the two screws in the back, and with the boot out the screws are much easier to get at.

thats exactly what i did. Once the boot was off the frame I was able to put one of those midget screwdrivers under there and get it off easily.

Nah, I left them off to see if I'd notice they were gone. Let me xplain that I am extremely picky about things in my car, so if I had any question, I'd take it pack apart and fix it.
You can probably guess that they're still off. The console bezel holds it down just fine.

its IN THE MAIL.....so not at this very moment.....the MoMo boot is fairly GENERIC at the bottom....purposely made that was for installation in all cars......its NOT made vehicle specific. in fact....its too long and will require trimming off the excess material.
