Removal of factory deck

How can I do this? I read that I could use a wire hanger and stick it in some hole close to the deck and pull it out but I am not seeing any hole. I need to take it out so I could put in my dvd receiver.

in my car it had little covers over the holes on both sides. i heard you could use a wire hanger to, but i already had some some of the din removal tools.

if i still had my stock radio i would take pics and show you. on both sides of the radio there are little black covers (i had four because i had a tape player too) you remove those, and there should be two holes behind each. i used my dads din tools that he bought from a local car parts store. all you do is push them in until they click. the deck should pull right out. you could probably push the wire hanger into the holes the same way. hope this helps

try what matt(roddimus prime) said with the butterknives or maybe cut the wire hanger so you can stick it into both holes at onces or something. i never used anything but the din removal tools because my dad already had them. its been almost 2 years since i messed with the stock radio.

same with me...i just slid the butterknives into the slots and pushed the handles AWAY from the cd player...this pushes the pins IN and then slid it out.

i have a 99 pro as well and i was just installin' the deck but no luck.

when i connected the wires it came on for about 10 seconds then one of the wire sparked and it came off but that was because the plug was connected properly. but when i plugged it in good it didn't come on...i rewired it and nothing. is it possible that i blew the deck? I sure hope not

oh yeah, i got the wire stuff from a sticky here on the forum which was very helpful but the only problem is the one i mentioned above. You have any idea what may have happened? I'm kinda really worried now that i blew the deck!

it wouldn;t really matter how u connected the speakers.. (like if u put front speaker to rear out-put) it wont blow it up or anything.. it will just sound weird.... hehe as far as i know the stock speakers are all pioneer 25W ones...

u sure u connected the power (12V, Ground, and night light) wires properly?? only reason i can see it sparking is not doin this correctly...

umm if the wire sparked the deck should be okay... because the decks have a baby fuse to protect it from any surges...

check the fuse if its good then i am sho it was just the wire that was damaged..

check all connections.. (power, speakers etc etc) and try it again??

thats what i would do hehehe
