I mean, I've slid through corners before, in the snow (we get alot of that here).

Just, this was a clear night, no rain, no sunlight; didn't even notice the road conditions until I realized that I was no longer in control, and then it was too late for the brakes.

I guess I could have been more careful, but it was a casual drive around a mild corner, didn't expect nature to throw me a curveball, haha!

Yeah.. if you were going at or below the speed limit and a lack of maintenance of the roadway caused you to skid and break the car, then you have a case against the city. If you were going above the speed limit, no matter how safe it usually is, that sorta kills it :P

Yeh, I don't recall my speed, it wasn't excessive, I usually drive at around 10km/h (about 6mph) over the limit.
This is more a case of not paying attention to the road, than the road being out of service.

Slowing down would have helped, if I had seen it in time.

Look at the bright side, you did it up big! That really does suck, glad that you weren't hurt and your car wasn't worse.

Always a good idea to scan ahead for road hazards. Riding a motorcycle you learn early on to keep an eye on the road condition. You can still be surprised but it happens less frequently. If you are familiar with the road you can learn where something can happen to change the road surface (like on the road leading to my development, the county puts gravel on the inside of a turn and geniuses who turn too tightly kick it onto the road).

Yeh, I usually do, but it was late, familiar road...

I think they are doing construction down the road, so I'm thinking gravel truck lost some sand on the corner.
